Ok so ive been looking around and heres the dellima.

I want a Jim Root Telecaster so bad that its practically killing me that i cant afford one. However, my question is, if i buy a plain white telecaster, is there any way that i could do some work and convert it into a Jim Root sytle Tele? I need help on this one.

It looks to me like...

You'll need to buy:

2 EMGs
A humbucker mounting ring
A black hardtail bridge
Black tuners
Black Strap Pins
Black String Tree
Black output jack and plate

You'll need to:

Remove the control plate and fill the hole, then repaint the front
Wire it to take 1 volume and a 5 way switch, and whatever wiring options he has.

All in all, it will take around $350 and 2 weeks of curing time for the paint. You'll need a router, sandpaper, hardwood to fill the holes, and some knowledge on painting.

It won't be too hard if you go about it the right way.

EDIT: That is one sexy ass guitar, and I want one.

You are quite welcome.

If you are looking for an opinion, I think you should do it.

Customization is a rewarding experience, and not many people get to play a gig and say, "I built this, yeah."

It's cool.

+1, i think you should do it as well.

and thank you for picking the white one, the black one is pretty hideous.

im gonna go for it. it'll not only give me a sense of accomplishment, but if it all goes smoothly, i'll end up with a hand-made, rather bitchin guitar

Absolutely.

The best advice is to just take your time, anyone can do it really.

And, we gotta see pics when its done!!

I can promise pics, tho it wont be for awhile cause i have to save up all the money to get the parts. But no doubt its all going to be worth it

OK here's a new thing...

I can see the ring on the bridge humbucker, but how is the neck humbucker mounted? also, will any humbucker ring fit the humbuckers? Or will i have to buy EMG brand rings?

the neck pup is mounted to the pickguard, and any brand rings should do.

k thanks, and how would i go about finding a volume control with the wires and everything?
#13
when you buy the emgs it'll come with everything you need (pots,jack,etc.). atleast i think thats what your asking, right ?

yep! i didnkt know if everything came with the pickups or if i had to get every little thing seperate, which would have been a pain in the ass. Thanks!
