Does anyone know any good DIY guides for filing your nut slots? I've found that I really enjoy using 12-gauge strings, but the nut on my Epi Les Paul doesn't seem to want to accommodate E, A, D, and G too well. The E string looks like it just barely sits down inside of it. Or would it be better idea to perhaps get a new nut, and maybe upgrade at the same time by getting something nice, like bone?

Thanks,

I use old strings to file the nut slots- the new strings then fit perfectly. Cut off a short length of the new string and file the slot with it.

+1 - thats what i would do... alternatively get some nut slot saws from stew mac... the end of the string will be cheaper though.
Thank you please.
