Alright so here's my spiel;

I'm playing a Fender American Deluxe Strat through a Marshall MG30DFX. I should mention that I pray constantly that God will forgive me for this damnation-worthy sin against guitar in general.

Anyway I'm looking for an amp that will better suit my intentions. I play mainly blues, rock, and pop (think Mayer, Clapton, Knowles), but every so often I like melting people's faces with some shredding. I'm about to start playing in a church worship band again, and I plan on doing some recreational gigging as well with whatever amp I get.

Don't worry about where I live or what my budget is; I'm just doing my homework for something reasonable for a college student interested in a high-quality amp.

I've looked at a Blues Reissue, but its reaction to distortion doesn't seem adequate to me. I've looked at the B-52 AT-100 for its price, but I've heard it has some feedback and other issues. Anyway just looking for some recommendations.

what's your definition of "high quality"? i know you said "no budget", but people are going to start recommending two rocks, dumbles and trainwrecks unless you narrow it down a little more...
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Haha excellent point; how about we put the cap around $1,500.

And by high-quality I mean an all-tube amp that's capable of producing tone that would be condusive hard rock on Saturday night and then worship music on Sunday morning. Something I wouldn't regret buying like that little Marshall SS...

^ i haven't tried egnater, but i think they have a pretty good rep. might be worth considering.

new amps around $1500: kustom coupe would be worth a look, it's only $800 or so, but if it's "good enough" it'll save you some money- and if not, you'll know why you're spending more.

if you are willing to stretch to the $1500 mark, you're probably not a million miles from boutique territory, if not there already- things like budda, dr z (haven't tried), mesa lonestar special, etc. might be worth considering. big problem is i'm not too well up on USA prices, and also there may be some hidden gems which you can't get easily here in europe.

main thing is, what do you mean by rock? do you mean a mainly british or american type of tone? or both?

Mainly American style rock, but Clapton's a big influence on my tone; that's actually part of what I'm looking for in an amp, is the ability to emulate a variety of tones (with pedal assistance).

Ooo Fender Supersonic. Played one of those at the shop a couple weeks ago; sounded real good. Sounds like I'm gonna be testing a lot of amps out..

All of those prices are pretty high, except the rectoverb. Well, and the Fender. Gibson amps aren't generally that expensive, though I'm not familiar with the GA-400.

The TSL is overpriced by about 2-300, the Hayseed runs 1100 new, and IIRC 1300 with the EF86 channel. The AC30 Head goes for 900 new, so 700 is not a good deal on a used one.

just throwin stuff out there.....he can haggle with the buyer if he wants.

i didn't even bother to check San Antonio as I figured Austn was more of a music town. He's in between both cities. I scanned thru 300 postings and only went back 2 days so there is tons of stuff to look at.
