Does anyone play this game?

I'm getting into 40k and am wondering if anyone else in The Pit plays.

my bro use to paint the space marines and space hawks. we only really ever played warhammer quest back in the day.

I assume you are talking about the board game and not the new computer games?

Im pretty sure everyone has gone through the warhammer stage at around 13-15 years old.
I still have mine :')

Played those WH and WH40K for about 4 years a while back, worst idea ever now that I look back on it. Way too expensive, and generally a waste of time
I have recreated a Mattocaster with Kaoss Pad built into the body. If you would be interested in having this mod done to your guitar, let me know!

Actually the part of my soul that died was the part that played Warhammer.

Make a pros and cons list before starting up a collection of Warhammer stuff.

Pros
They're fun to paint.
They look cool.
You'll never have to deal with stressful things like relationships and dating.
You'll be able to live rent-free with your parents till you're in your 30s.
You'll never get another sunburn again in your life.
Your wallet will be much lighter and easier to carry around.

You know what, I actually can't think of any cons! Have fun with Warhammer man!

I did play, back in the day. Once I learnt to drive and got more of a social life though, I just lost interest in it. Then I got a girlfriend, and then my little plastic men had to go. Could you imagine the embarrassment? "Hey honey, just come up to my room for some coffee..."

"Cool. Wait...what the hell is that little plastic moster thing? It has a toy gun? You still play with toy soldiers!?! Sorry, I have to be somewhere..."

I used to play, I had a large Ultra Marine army (around 2500 points), a medium Ork army (about 1000 points), and a small Tyranid army (about 700 points).

Unfortunately, most of the people I knew who collected it weren't interested in actually playing, they just liked painting the cool models.

You'll have to do better than the attic, that's where I stashed mine.

I remember one Christmas I'd gotten a pack of new Terminator units, and I spent the entire day painting them. Man, they were beautiful. Then my auntie comes around, and says "oh, these are really good, do they move?" *SNAP* "oh, I guess not".

Man, I was angry as hell.

I used to love them, but my bank account didn't....

Anyway, I gave up on my Tau, sold them all for £200 and got on with my life. Being a nerd wasn't a nice way to live then.

You know what was more fun than painting the models? Making scenery etc.

I remember I spent an age making an industrial area board out of two pieces of board (with a hinge to make it easier to transport), painting it, using sand and gravel etc for boulders, making facilities and complexes out of card and drinking straws...... man, that was sweet.

THis.

I always made foamboard ruins and expanding foam moon scenery, it was awesome! The remaining sprues worked well as rubble. I think I spent waaayyy too many hours doing that....

I'd always end up trying to include too much in one piece.

I'd do what I wanted, then go "I'll add a little bit here...... a bit more here......." and end up ruining it by making it massively over-complicated. and shit.

Nor is it now. Being gay is actually more socially acceptable in this day and age than being a geek. Me and my warhammer buddies had rules, based on the fight club rules. "You shall not talk about geek club outside of geek club" etc for this very reason

I got the box set for crimbo one year... sister walks into room, and treads on all the sprues - she says it was an accident (lies I tell you) and then spills yellow paint on my new blue carpet

Ouch. That stings...I remember when I was painting an Ork army, I was mixing a shade of green into an empty pot. Annoyingly, I knocked it over, and my wonderful mix flew on the floor. My parents were away at the time, and I even went and bought some vanish stain removing stuff. Nothing worked, and when my parents got back they were more than a mite pissed off

I play it,
have a dwarf army
orcs and goblins army
dark elves army

omg, i put way to much money into this stuff:|
