So here's my tossup:

Yamaha APX500 for $300 but includes an Audio-Technica ATW-251 Freeway VHF Guitar Wireless System for free. It has a spruce top and nato back and sides.

or....

Takamine EG530SSC for $351. It has a solid spruce top and solid nato back.

I really like what I've seen about the Takamine, and the reviewers all bought it for ~600 (and I don't mean list...).

Help?

Was it the Doa one you were recommending? It looks beautiful, but I'm wondering if there is an $80 difference. Frankly I figure if the reviewers of the Takamine liked it for 600, its a no-brainer for 350. On the other hand, people seem to love that Alvarez, and it looks b-e-a-utiful.

I would consider the Takamine as your best choice. Mainly because it has a solid top. Other than that... it's a Takamine. They're easy to play, sound very quiet, but consistent throughout light and hard playing. You basically can't go wrong with a tak.
Equipment:
- Art & Lutherie Cedar CW (SOLD! )
- Martin D-16RGT w/ LR Baggs M1 Active Soundhole Pickup
- Seagull 25th Anniversary Flame Maple w/ LR Baggs Micro EQ

I wasn't recommending a set one per se, but I would agree with you that that guitar is beautiful. However, you can't go wrong with a 350 dollar Takamine that's being bought for 600.
I think that either way you decide you won't be disappointed.
