Joaquin Phoenix is quitting is acting career and is currently working on an album. I have not heard him really play besides his little stint in Walk the Line. I wonder how it's going to work out. I think he was a pretty good actor and I wish the best for his music.

Well I liked him in Walk the Line, so I don't know if it's a shame or a good thing, seen as he played and acted in it... bleh.

You didn't know he is a blues player now? I cracked up the first time I saw it.

hmmmm he was a good actor (Gladiator and Buffalo Soldiers were only good because of him imo) and he had a good singing voice in Walk the Line (which I loved as well) but I have a feeling his singing career will just be him singing johnny cash style which would just seem a little derivitive

Next time, i'll just give you my brain, singing as you're already saying what I'm thinking.

You can put it in a jar and call it Pinky. "Are you thinking what i'm thinking Pinky? It's time to TAKE OVER THE WORLD"!

i fully support him. i liked his acting, but the fact that he has fallen in love with guitar from the moment he learned it...well...i think it's admirable and obviously deserves to pursue his passion. maybe one day he'll have a UG account!!! haha.

but honestly, he's giving up acting to pursue music. he's taking a damn good step in the right direction, even if he doesn't sell millions....he's doing it for himself. and in the end, that's what it's all about.

You know this whole shutting up thing? I think you're missing the point. It means you stop saying things that are stupid and pointless.

Conor Oberst isn't a great singer, doesn't mean he's not a ****ing God. Bob Dylan isn't a great singer, doesn't mean he hasn't defined generations.

Voice doesn't define brilliance. Look at Mika, that guy has got an INCREDIBLE voice, but his music isn't all that great. Or Clay Aiken, his voice is INCREDIBLE, but his music is Gay (lol pun).

It's all a big prank. Casey Affleck is taping it as a movie and it's going to be a Borat-type thing.

For all the people talking about his guitar work in Walk the Line. He has decided to do hip-hop, so the guitar work you guys know and love will most likely be non existant on the record.

Its definitely a joke. On Letterman last night it was too hilarious for it not to be a joke. Sure, he's perhaps even more of a method actor than Ledger was, but for this to be anything but a joke does not fit.

Joaquin Phoenix hip hop record: do not want.
