personally, I cant hear a difference above 192kbps
i just rip to variable bit rate

if you have any half decent headphone/speaker setup it'll be quite evident that 128kbps sucks

i have plenty of space.... i setted the converter to convert audio part of videos to 320

I try to get all mine at 320 kbps, which is the highest [that I'm aware of]

I don't really notice any difference in quality above 192 kbps. It depends what format you're using though. .mp3 has a different way of compressing the file than say, itunes format, and I've been told .wav is lossless but I find that very hard to believe as it need to be processed digitally.

If you're ripping someone elses music, keep it around 128. If what you're doing is mastering or burning your own music, then 256 or 320.
