Careful where you use it, mind. Sometimes it can take on an odd, exotic sound. Or you could do it well and end up playing something like the Sweet Child O Mine solo.

You wan't to know what it sounds like, listen to some of Slash's solos.

Harmonic minor, natural minor and phrygian dominant.

Because... well, because those scales = epic win

chromatics are incredibly fun to play on keyboard lol

I actually forgot about that scale >_<... makes me remember that chromatic section on the keyboard solo of Nightwish's "Planet Hell". That sounded sweet.

SCOM is just a natural E minor iirc.

Harmonic minor is something like the outro to november rain.

The solo near the end of Wake Up Dead ( Megadeth) was also written in Harmonic Minor and it sounds rather exotic.

I don't know what it's called, but a Blues Minor with an added... okay, I know no theory, so I don't know the best name to call it. But if it starts as a G Blues Minor, I add the A before the A#, if it's an F Blues Minor then I add the B, and so on etc. I think it might be the Augmented Fifth Scale, but I'm not sure.

Most of my favourite solos are actually in the straight up simple Major scale, but I use that one above (whatever it's proper name is) the most myself, so I suppose I'd have to put that down as my favourite.
Yes, I know everything. No, I can't play worth a damn.

Slash does use the Major 7th heavily on SCOM. He uses both, natural and harmonic.

Fish

Or dragon

Depends on my mood.

Other than that, phrygian or mixolydian(sp?). Not all the time, though. It sounds better when its mixed in with major or minor modes for contrast and balance.

Lydian. I don't know why, it just sounds so friggen cool.

This. The Lydian is like the major scale, which is also cool, but better. And you can make some snazzy licks from it.
