Can you help me place on a spectrum of left - center - right;

Conservatism, Classical Liberalism, communism, fascism, social democracy and reform liberalism ?

Any help at all is much appreciated, comrades.

Happy Halloween!

kinda about this:
communism - social democracy - reform liberalism - classical liberalism - conservatism - fascism

edit: Damn you. But since when is socialism (social democracy) the centre? ist left. conservatism is the centre.
And TS, why can't you do that yourself?

Conservatism is right wing. Oh. I took social democracy to mean a democracy that runs with certain social understandings, much like the governments of the USA or UK (Moreso the USA, due to the constitution etc). If social democracy was supposed to mean socialism and I missed that, my mistake.

(Also, what's left and right isn't necessarily clear cut, due to personal political spectrum 'gradings' if you will.)

And wiki could've probably answered this question. Or google.

well, we probably have different understandings of the left and right wings here in germany. you know, the conservatives (CDU) have evolved from the ZENTRUM party that existed earlier. so they're the centre. blablabla

I went on Wiki but the results were too widespread and not quite what I had in mind of finding so I assessed it would be more efficient to ask others who already knew.

Thanks by the way.

labels will fail you, unless you use context.

in terms of economic context:

communism = government controls all and distributes to the people (somewhat) equally.
free market capitalism = you get what you earn.

in terms of rights:
communism = all people are equal.
facism = you will do what you are told to do.

in terms of foreign policy:
isolationism = stay out of international conflicts unless the hit your shores.
liberal or internationalism = involvement in the international arena.

in terms of change:
liberal = seeking change
conservative = resisting change

in terms of government size and scope:
liberal = more government involvement in everyday life.
conservative = less

the problem with using labels is some of them are contradictory.
it depends on context.
what muddies the waters even further, is the political parties use some of these terms to define themselves. in many cases, the terms are misleading.
