I'm starting to get impatient with my school so I may build a different guitar before my graduation project one. I was doing a little doodling in school and I came up with this, what to you think?

Specs:
Mahogany body and neck
2 humbuckers
2 concentric pots
string-thru-body
24 3/4" scale

its kinda creative, but its looks like it could be uncomfortable to play. imo it looks too boxy. so i would have to say no. But its you guitar bro, so im not one to tell you what to do.

I can't imagine anything worse than shagging to Mark Knopfler.

Maybe shagging Mark Knopfler, but that's about it.

but it's never been done before. do it man, it'll probably come out greater than you think! Toss a pickguard on there and it'll be your own thing man

no, ill admit, but plain has been. bb king had a completely square guitar.

hey if you wanna do it go for it, youre a better man than i would.

It's like a square V, maybe you could name it "sqwervy" If you paint it a good color, and give it a bevel or a carved top it might turn out pretty good.

Bo Diddley was the one with the rectangular guitar

Go for the design, you might tweak it a bit though. Personally I don't like the position of the knobs, I'd prefer them closer to the strings, I don't like the headstock, maybe invert it so that it tapers in the same direction as the body.

Thats my 2 cents anyway, maybe you might find it useful, and good luck with the building

I have a hard time understanding the wonderful rendering with such a gross design. I'm sorry, but this really doesn't look good. The sexiest guitars all have wonderful curves. Utilize them.
#11
I think you should change the headstock to an arrow going the same direction as the body.

It'd be cool =D

Otherwise it's a very original idea, just needa give it some good pups, paint job and frets and you should be set
#12
Change the headstock and add contouring, and make the body relatively small compared to the rest!

If you like the shape, then fine, it's all subjective.

I think it'd be uncomfortable to play though, as has been said above, use the basic shape, but look to modify it a bit to make it more practical.
#15
I'm using Google Sketch up which is basically 3d cad software. It's hard to add curves so I did the best I could do. I could also bevel the edges like on an SG if that would help.

I really like that rendering with the pickguard dlabooda. Especially those fretmarkers

Still a square cigar box slide guitar is a bit different to this design...

Not my style, but then neither are any razorbacks.

I don't like that body shape, sorry.

It's just too boxy, it doesn't seem interesting or fun, or even comfortable.

Just weird, and kind've ugly.
#22
do a multilam neckthru, with wings that'll contrast the lams. that'll be okay

maybe make the wings a little longer?

I think the wings should be longer. Or you know what would be really creative? Make it a big circle with a notch cut out, and paint it yellow with no pickguard, or maybe a clear one. You can have a pacman guitar!

I hope you don't mind my suggestion.... I love this idea, it's a great direction to take the V shape. Incorporation of curves was good, but in case you want a different perspective, here's what I would change it into

I like that idea. But it should be a neckthrough.

I suggest going with the shape of dimebags guitar and instead of the front bottom sticking out make it same as top.If you dont know hat it looks like although most people do google dean dime bag from hell. it would be cooler looking imo but your second one would look alot better if fins were longer

What if you curved the squared left and right sides inwards toward the strings?

I bet that would look pretty groovy.

I came in a bit late. I just drew that and it doesn't look too good. I like how it ended up with everyone throwing in their ideas.

And to the thread starter, if you don't mind I'm gonna try building a prototype of that myself.

Awesome design, love it. Although I am kinda weird with guitars. I'm the only guitarist I personally know who likes telecasters and I know a lot of guitarists.
