Fade to Black - Metallica

"Life it seems will fade away, drifting further everyday
Getting lost within myself, nothing matters no one else.
I have lost the will to live, simply nothing more to give,
There is nothing more for me, need the end to set me free.

Things aren't what they used to be, missing one inside of me,
Deathly lost this can't be real, can't stand this hell i feel,
Emptyness is feeling me, to the point of agony,
Growing darkness sinking dawn, i was me but now he's gone...

No one but me can't save myself but it's too late,
Now i can't think, think why i should even try it,
Yesterday it seems, as though it never exsisted,
Death greets me warm, now i would just say goodbye...

goodbye..."

Saddest song ever. No doubt about that. A suicide's last words.

Listen to more music

Not that I wouldn't love Fade To Black either

I... I should return to Arkham.

Among the churchyard’s mouldering stones I recognise a name – my own.
I have come home to Arkham.

"I Won See You Tonight Pt. 1" - Avenged Sevenfold

cant think of any others. Thats the only one that comes to mind.

Paradise Lost - Forever Failure, Jaded
Godgory - Sea of Dreams (Remix)
Primordial - The Coffin Ships
Type O Negative - Bloody Kisses (A Death in the Family)

And although not strictly metal, but I find Rammstein's Mutter to be a really powerful song too.

+1 to A Toute Le Monde. Does anyone else think that the new version totally ruined the emotion of the song? It's not a bad version musically, but it's just much less heartfelt, IMO.

Actually, in technical terms, a remix wouldn't be correct. It's basically a re-writing of the song. And I find it to be far better than the original, which is a great piece in itself.

Actually, judge for yourselves.

ok, finished listening to the original, the solo sucked balls and the major chord at the end killed it for me.

the redo is nothing like the orgiinal Its way better though, you're right. The solo is much more tasteful, and it was sad all the way through, not just sad then a fuckin happy chord to ruin it.

Durch Befleckte Berührung Meiner Nemesis - Bethlehem (More depressing, than sad.)
Nothing Else Matters - Metallica

That's all I've got now.

That used to be the favorite song of one of my friend's... until I told him that it reminded me of skull ****ing, and he hasn't listened to it since.

Everytime melody twists it's way through the crushing heaviness, I just get that feeling of distress and hopelessness.

Oh, Prisoner of your Eyes by Judas Priest. Just bought Screaming for Vengeance today and thats such an awesome track... frickin deep though.

The guitar solo is like heartstring tugtastic.

You are so cruel.

Why would you say that to someone with a shrine to Dream Theater in their signature?

EDIT: Oh well, good thing I know the Scenes From A Memory storyline too well to think of that song any differently.

There are a select few metal bands that I ever heard that can write an actual sad song and not sound like morons.
Dyer's Eve is awesome, and has an abnormally large penis, which doesn't act as any hinderance to his everyday life despite its freakishly large size.
