But I don't know what to look for. I think I know of a drummer who would be willing to participate, and I can play guitar and bass both eficiantly, so it kinda opens up the eligibility, but I am not sure of what to look for as far as talent goes. I have never played in a jam band before but I am sick of the ska band i am in because I feel it is a poor genre, and most people in my band are thinking of quitting. So... in short, I want to start a jam band but don't have a starting point to go off of.

Just start improvs but don't make them long if you don't feel it, learn some jazz too, and be original. As far as talant it doesn't take alot of talent for a jam band, but it takes A TON of talent to be in a good jam band.

Is that a ukulele in your pants, or did you just rip ass to the tune of "Aloha Oi"?

I met Sonic Youth on June 30th, and Mars Volta on Oct 20th.
