So this is my first post in this forum

I would like to think what you guys think of a thrash song I wrote over the summer called Run For Your Death (it's about hobbits getting eaten by Nazgul, check out the lyrics too plz ). And yes it is a "joke" song lyric wise, but the effort that I put into composing the instruments was alot.

So like I said, im pretty new to this, but i'm pretty sure I did it right...I put both the ptb and midi file into winzip and encrypted it, it asked for a password and i put it as "ultimateguitar" without the quotes, so that's the password incase it asks you guys for it.

Please be honest guys and listen to the song all the way through, this was my first real metal solo that I wrote and would like to thing what you guys think

BTW- I tried importing this into tuxguitar so that I could make it a guitar pro tab, but it totally messed up the song, does anyone have any idea why?

not gonna lie, that was pretty sick.
it sucks its just midi though, think you could do at least a half-@ss real recording of it? even just for poops and giggles?
a couple parts seemed a little lacking, i dunno how you could make em better though, maybe (once again) real guitar would do the trick.
good job though man.

Okay, so the opening riff you did was kind of 'eh'. It may be that the guitars aren't a highlight for that bit, but on it's own it sounded amateur.

Once the thrash kicked in I was enjoying it nicely. The riff you do including the triplets is extremely badass, so much so that I had to get my guitar to play it the way God wanted it to be; with overdrive.

The solo was sound, sonically it sounds fine, but for around 16 bars you are doing the same technique, just in different places. It's still better lead than I could come up with, it could just use a little fleshing out.

Oh, and the ending. Nice little legato finish, but I wanted it to last longer. It was kind of fully going and then had half a bar of legato and then an 8th note finish. I would have prefered it to run maybe 4 bars, and then have a hanging E5 to end. Maintaining the same feel, just extending the lick.

That's my two, or maybe three cents.

Thanks! Don't worry man, me and my drummer are planning to record this very very soon, and to me it sounds much better with the drums.

Thanks for the in depth crit! I know what you mean about the beginning and I was thinking it too, however I have listened to what my drummer has for that part and it made it tenfold better. I not quite sure how I could improve upon that part, because I don't just want to go into tremelo picking, galloping thrash part right away, so I added that little solo at the beginning

And about the solo, I see exactly what you mean there, I'm just doing scale runs in different positions, and I could definitely improve upon that. And thanks for the ending advice, I'll take that in mind as well.

BTW- Can anybody tell I was really really into Iced Earth when I wrote this? I noticed I gallop very very much.

I dunno, it wasn't really 'Iced Earth', but Iced Earth are badass. I approve of your music. Record this and PM me, I'm keen to hear this with drums.

hey, this be the drummer. finally registered here aleks. so i read what heafyman had to say and i have now changed the intro. cause originally the drums kinda went with the guitars, but i can make the begining drum driven, i just never really realized that would be a perfect place for it.

as for the drums, i somewhat have it tabbed out on tux guitar. thing is though, like eddie said, it converts the powertab really weird and adds these random 16th and 32nd rests and completely screws up the song, and in return, makes it sound like the drums don't fit at parts. but trust me. we've jammed to the song before and it sounded perfect.

lol, nice to see you finally made an account

so that you can have fun in the pit, right?

Would've been recorded sooner if it hadn't been for a series of bad events that happened. Mainly, eddie did something to his wrist, doctor said he couldn't play guitar for a week. Right after a week happened, I sprained my ankle, and could do double bass let alone walk for a while. And now since we're in Minnesota it's getting cold, and we normally record in my garage (bigger area, more space for sound to resonate) and we don't exactly have a heater in it. But we intend on recording soon.

And yes, I may venture into the pit every once in a while.
