I'm working on a new song with my band - it's the first one that I've written and sing lead. Lately I've found that instead of using metaphors, it's sometimes more powerful to just put it all out there. The backing music is in my profile.

Verse 1:
Sit down it's time for us to talk
A couple of drinks, the words come to me now
I can see that this isn't fair
You're in love with me, but I'm not there

Verse 2:
I don't feel the way I should
Sharp breath, a tear rolls down your cheek
I hold you, say that you'll be fine
But you gotta cut me out, stop wasting our time

I'm not saying I regret my time with you
I'll never forget those times you saw me through
What's I'm saying, is that it's time for us to end
You were a lover when I needed a friend

Verse 3:
We caught up when feelings no longer linger
I'm surprised to see the ring on your finger
If I didn't want to go down on my knee
Why am I wondering "should that have been me"?

Chorus (As above)

Woah, I'm taking responsibility for us both x 2
If I could tell you what went wrong, I would change it all again x 2

Chorus (Rendition):
I don't know where we went wrong
But I know it was going too long
It was right - we had to end
You wanted a lover, I needed a friend
But now that's all gone gone gone
And no, Guitar Hero will not help. Even on expert. Really.
