with acdc and metallica both coming out with new albums this year, i wanted to know who the ug community thought had the better album.
#2
metallica because it doesnt sound exactly the same as their other songs.

also because ac/dc havent had enough time to prove themselves in comparison to metallica.

I voted 'Tallica because I don't like ACDC.

Death Magnetic was pretty strong but it could have been produced a whole lot better.
"I'm sick of following my dreams man. I'm just ask where they're going, and hook up with them later."

Gotta check out the new AC/DC first - Death Magnetic was impressive though. Oh, and for the sake of trolling: Everybody who doesn't like AC/DC even a bit sucks big hairy donkey balls. Gah.
#7
I just prefer metallica and death magnetic. Like the ac/dc album aswell, but not something I listen to "seriously".

I'm gonna say Death Magnetic. ACDC didn't really have to "prove themselves" because Stiff Upper Lip wasn't as shitty as Metallica's St. Anger.

So best comeback? Metallica.

Better band? Tough choice.

If you don't like ACDC, there is something wrong with you...

Black Ice is far superior to that excuse of a Metallica album.

I'm not a fan of either, but Metallica because AC/DC's albums all sound more or less the same.

And yes, I know everyone says that. It's the truth.

I think he meant that the album hasn't been out long enough.

My vote goes to Death Magnetic. Love it.

AC/DC. Metallica has been weak sauce since the black album, and death magnetic is no different. but if id have to say best comeback? Guns N' Roses

Guns just isn't the same without Slash.. To me, Guns N Roses = Axl, Slash, Izzy, Duff, and Steve. Anything else isn't GnR.

I meant in the realm of listening possibility!

Yes but let me put it this way...

While ACDC kept a steady line of good rock albums.

Metallica failed, and I'm seriously tired of people saying well Death Magnetic is better than St. Anger, it's true, but it is nothing compared to the great Metallica albums like Master of Puppets, Ride The Lightning and Black Album.

Here's a graph.

EDIT: Im not comparing the two bands here, it's just two seperate curves!

^ I think you mean:
AC/DC's stays level because every album is the same.
The difference in the Metallica curve being that their first few albums were better than any AC/DC album, and after MoP they just went downhill.

^ Yes, that is exactly what I mean. ACDC is far from my favorite band, but if you put on any song from ACDC it is going to be a nice cool Rock song. You can always count on ACDC.

Metallica on the other hand have made far better songs than ACDC, but some also much worse.

AC/DC's comeback was totally overrated and sold out...

Walmart bought enough albums of theirs to make them go Triple Platinum instantly.. and now theyre EVERYWHERE.

Plus AC/DC has sounded the exactly same for decades.

It's a tough choice.

On one hand, we have a band that I've never cared about finally putting out a decent album (ACDC)

On the other hand, we have a great band making a great album with shitty production (Metallica).

I vote Metallica, but they needed to bring in a better mastering engineer. Rubin compresses everything to absurd levels.

ACDC have been putting out decent albums since they began. I wouldn't say any of it is particularly amazing, but it's all decent.

Whereas Metallica produced some pretty good stuff, then got shittier, and are now metaphorically arising from the ashes of the phoenix of their past.

I disagree. I thought Load and Reload were pretty good albums...just not really Metallica albums.

Its a funny situation: If you stay the course, everyone rips on you for becoming stale. If you experiment, everyone rips on you for changing and not sounding like your debut. It's a hopeless predicament.
