It's early November. Christmas is like, two months away. Dude

Try Jeff Buckley's version of the Corpus Christi Carol, if you're after something different.

Greensleeves? ya about prostitutes originally, but eventually it evolved into a great finger picking christmas song lol...

How's it related to christmas?

"Alas my love, you do me wrong
to cast me off discourteously
for i have loved you so long
rejoycing in your company...." etc. Not really festive themed...

Whatever you do, don't try and sing it unless you're a chorister.

The Xmas version is called "What Child is This" and has a completely different set of lyrics having to do with the Christ-child and allathat. The same question might have been asked of the protagonist of the other version, but it would have been a literal, rather than a rhetorical, question...."Hey...is this kid MINE or what?"

BTW, back on topic, this one and several others lend themselves very well to DADGAD tuning...great for Christmas songs

It's fine to make a Christmas song thread now.

If the guy is looking for some recommendations, chances are he won't know how to play the songs yet. It takes time to learn new songs.

Everybody chill out on the "0H N0oOe5 N0+ xM4s s0NgS!!eleven!!!1!"

Im really getting into the Christmas spirit lately. I pulled out the old acoustic and am going to take a second shot at finger picking. Bass guitar opened my eyes to finger picking a bit. But yeah, http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/m/misc_traditional/greensleeves_power_tab.htm Can't go wrong with greensleeves, make it your own too, add some stuff and so on.

Guitars:
-Jackson DXMG (SH-2N, SH-6)
-Schecter Hellraiser C1 (18v)
-Ibanez XPT707FX (Blackouts)
-Ibanez BTB 400 Bass

Main Amp: Mesa DR Roadster

That's just too..... huh?
Can this thread be made a sticky until after the holidays? That way it won't get shuffled down the line to like page 8 or 13 and be hard(er) to find(for those who can't figure out how to search). Just a suggestion.

Sorry, I don't have one. Maybe try combining some of these and see if you can't work up an arrangement!

If you're into writing your own acoustic versions of Christmas songs, this is my favorite. I think its a masterfully constructed piece.

Walking in the Air

There's a nice acoustic version of that on youtube.
I'm having a little go myself, as of today. It sounds rather rubbish though haha, mainly cos its me attempting to do my own version. Maybe I'll get it in time for christmas.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Played/sang Little Drummer Boy at my church a couple weeks ago. It went very nicely, despite technical problems that had me switching from my guitar, to another person's Yamaha, to ANOTHER person's crappy Ibanez Art Wood guitar. Oh well, the non-musical church-goers didn't recognize that the "guitar" I was playing on was absolute crap. It was all off balance though with the strap on that little button thing attatched to the heel of the neck. I'll stick to tieing my straps to the headstock, thank you very much.

Ok, I'm done ranting. Once again, MERRY CHRISTMAS A&C!
