So I've been wondering for awhile, these guys are all nuts on a bass, and listed above is the order I like them in. I was wondering, who's the best out of these guys, in your opinion, and why? Or is it someone else, and if so, why?

Have fun, and keep it clean. I don't want this turning into a flame fest.

It's gotta be Les.

Vic is amazing, too, but Les just has those awesome funky bass lines. I like Flea, but I personally don't think he's even close to being as good as the other two.

I like Flea the most out of the 3, but that doesn't mean I think he's the best....
#15
Bruce and Wolstenholme are more fun. Jaco is more crazy.

but I obviously belong on this poll. Austiman, why are you hating?

but Claypool. he's fun.

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

He was one of the greatest bassists of all time. Look up the album "heavy weather" by weather report, or any of his solo work. In fact, I think iTunes has an essentials thing on Jaco

Remember, he did all that on a FRETLESS!

and Fudger, please don't facepalm noobs for not knowing stuff. If he said "PETE WENTZ IS THE BEST BASSIST EVER IVE LOOKED UP JACO AND VICTOR AND THEY ALL SUCK!!!11!" Ya, that would call for a facepalm. But if he doesn't know, we just need to lead him in the right direction. Plus, if he likes Victor and Claypool, and has recognized the fact that Flea is really overrated, then he can't be that clueless.

As much as i agree with jaco being the best, my favorite bass player as of late is actually a band comprized of only people in the bass clef. The bands called Morphine, its a grungy band that has a baritone sax player, a bass player who playes with a slide and a drummer.
This video isnt really good but it might get the point across.

I love the sax player.

Please can someone explain to me what "the best" means?

fastest?
Funkiest?
most styles?
musical knowledge?
slapping?
finger picking?

There is no such thing as "the best", so get over this silliness!!
