Just thought that I'd share this. I designed and built this guitar from scratch. There were no prefab parts and it was done by hand.

-Ebony fretboard/bridge/headstock veneer
-One piece mahogany neck
-Maple binding and rosette
-Indian rosewood back & sides
-Sitka Spruce top
-Fishman Ellipse Matrix Blend Pickup

To hear and see it in action check out : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJWsUsnuoC8&fmt=18

Thanks for looking!

Did you use any plans for it or did you do that yourself?

No, I studied with a Luthier in British Columbia and we made the specs up using various measurements from other guitars that I like. Except the body and headstock shape. Those were mine.

How much money was put into making this?

Honestly, I couldn't tell you. I would estimate that just for the parts/wood alone it would have cost approx $1200.

WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE TUNERS?!?!

They are Grover Rotomatics (Imperial?) and I ordered them from Stewart-Macdonald stewmac.com

How did you build the frets?

Once the fret board was planed to the correct thickness you use a special jig and run the fretboard upside through a table saw, once for each fret.

How much does it cost to make something like that?

You don't want to know!

Again, if you missed the link you can hear and see the guitar here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJWsUsnuoC8&fmt=18

Thanks for looking everybody!

Cheers,
J

Well, like I said I really can't say how much it cost but from design to finished product it took 6 weeks full time, 8-9 hours per day 5-6 days a week.

Very beautiful.
I really like the "clean" design, the only thing I don't like is the headstock.

Yeah, I guess it's sort of an acquired taste. The luthier I worked with was a little hesitant as I made it but I had a vision for what I wanted and followed through. it's probably one of my favourite parts of the guitar!

Nice job. I wasn't sure if I liked the headstock at first, but after looking at it for a bit I decided that it's cool.
