Ok, so how would everyone here rate the toneport GX? Its a much better value than the pods, and I want to know if the software does all it says it can do. And does the tone sound any better/worse than the pods?

I assume you're playing just open strings, so not to scratch your frets.

I have the GX also and it does what I need it to do. I plug it in and go. I use it with Amplitube Metal and Guitar Rig 3 so it is very nice for that kind of use. The sound is top notch in my opinion.

Don't get your hopes up about the sound quality. If you want quality recordings, you're better off micing up a nice tube amp.

I personally see the toneport GX as:
A) A practise amp for at home
B) A way to make quick easy recordings to demonstrate licks, riffs etc
C) A complete package with tons of effects to figure out what kind of sound you want

I do NOT see it as:
A) Quality sound recording device
B) Tube amp replacement

Thats my oppinion though, mileage may vary

Get it , but dont use it with the gearbox software, use guitar rig 3 or amplitube

I have the GX was not that impressed, although as a rcording device its not bad, Gearbox software sucks. Micing your amp is the best option imo!
