OK, I have used the Beavis Audio switching setup found here for a while now.
http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/StompboxWiring/

I was looking at the DIYstompboxes site and saw this

and tried it out since it looked easier than the Beavis one. It bypassed the pedal fine, no problems, but the LED wouldn't come on. Any thoughts? I tried a new LED, a new resistor, (3.6k) no luck.

But why wouldn't Aron's bypass method work? It will bug me till the day I die if I don't figure it out.

Yep, even flipped it around to be sure. in adition to changing resistors, I also tried a 5mm red LED, a 3mm red LED, and a 5mm orange LED. All brand new. 2 from different suppliers. No other ideas?

Dang, should have thought of that. But the bypass on the switch works fine... I'll get back to you when I have acsess to my shop.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. There is an error on your end of the line.

I'm sure that is the case, I know tons of people use it. Sorry if I gave another impression. I mean,

If you connect it according to the diagram, it will work. You must have it connected improperly. Pics?
