OK!So I'm looking for a new amp!
I'm having Peavey studio pro 112 right now, and for metal(trash), it's not nearly good enough!
Using distortion pedal with it but the clean channel can't be eq-ed, to sound good that way (or in any other way:P)!
I'm looking into peavey valveking head, because its really cheap!I know that I could buy some better sounding, smaller combo, but I don't want to stick to combos no more!I wanna go half stack, but I don't have money to buy Mesa Mark IV, Marshall JCM 800-900, Peavey 6505(5150) or something like that!
So is Peavey VK100 any good for metal?I heard it doesn't have enough gain on lead channel for that stuff, but if I use gainy dist. pedal on clean channel? How will it sound then?
thanks

have you listened to the Valveking clips in the VK thread? That is about as close as it gets. If you didn't live in Serbia I'd check out some stuff on craigslist for ya.

I've seen 5150 head for as low as $500 and Ultra and XXL heads for as low as $350. A good solid state head might do ya depending on what type of metal you play....

...which is?

Well, its mostly trash metal, something like Pantera, Metallica, Slayer...
but I play a bit of heavy, and hard rock also!

VKs can most certainly do thrash and hard rock. It depends, however, how heavy you want to go - I can get early Metallica sounds (Ride the Lightning-ish, at least) with my setup, although you'll want to get a different cab than the Valveking cab... mostly because the speakers are crap.

To be honest the VK won't go much heavier than '80s thrash... so if that's all you're playing you'll be good to go.

I also heard that Valveking cabs are crap, so what cab do you suggest that I should buy for VK100 head, that isn't too expensive?
Well if you mean Metallica scooped sound from 80's that's what I'm looking for?
