the first 2 saws were good. 3 was weak, didn't see 4 or 5. Rob Zombie's Halloween was the best horror movie I've ever seen to be honest.

I also dig High Tension, The Strangers, Session 9, The Hills Have Eyes (the first remake), and the TCM remake.

There's a movie called the Devil's Chair that is supposed to be pretty good too. There's an awesome horror movie site called "Arrow in the Head" check it out.

I love horror movies.

The fact that the films come from the Far East don't make them better, but in recent years, Korea and Japan have done some brilliant horror films.

At the moment, America seems to have lost its way with horror - slightly. The last good American horror I saw was Saw and to a lesser extent Saw II, The Hills Have Eyes was actually pretty cool, but it was a remake. The Dawn Of The Dead remake was piss poor - it was just an action film with zombies - and so was the recent Texas Chainsaw Massarcre series.

I'm extremely biased, but I think Britain is making brilliant horror films nowadays. The Hole, 28 Days, 28 Weeks, Creep (that's debatable), The Descent, Dog Soldiers, Dead Set and not to forget the classics like Alien, The Wicker Man, The Omen, Straw Dogs (Anglo-American, actually).

Candyman was a good one.
So was Friday the 13th, Halloween, the Shining, 28 Weeks Later, Saw 1-3, Jeepers Creepers, Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal Rising, Texas Chainsaw ect. The first Childs Play was good, but it all went down hill at part II. Oh and The Hills Have Eyes was pretty good.

And I really hate to admit it, but I loved Black Christmas. I think getting killed by a sharpened candy cane is pretty creative.

BTW, favorite horror decade was probably the late 70's to mid 80's. And the worst was the 90's to about 02.

Japanese horror films rely far too heavily on the ghosts of small children who desperately need to bathe.

All of George Romero's stuff (even the DOTD remake), cept Diary of the Dead kind of sucked and Land of the dead had a crappy ending. But anything with zombies that isnt made for the Sci Fi channel, old grindhouse flicks like I Drink Your Blood and I Eat Your Skin, not sure if this count as horror but the first Toxic Avenger, Devils Rejects, all the classics (like Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and stuff like Seven.

I think there have been a handful of brilliant horror films from the Far East, but for some reason, I'm not a huge fan of that style of cinema - maybe the visuals are too similar to Manga in some cases, and that really puts me off.

Well in the asian film department is getting kind of old....It's always some asian ghost girl with long straight Black hair over her face and scaring people...

Britian, I think makes lots of Zombie related stuff...

Middle East, I have no word on them...

American Films- Are mostly one man slasher films..

South America- Idk...

Some Italian horror movies are beyond ****ed up. Cannibal Holocaust anyone?

My favourites have to be [REC], 28 Days/Weeks Later, and George A Romero series.

I think some people overlook Romero's movies, they're more about how a society copes with the zombie apocalypse than the zombies munching on your face. Land Of The Dead, for example, is about the rising gap between the rich (Fiddler's Green where the rich and powerful live) and the poor (the people in the slums). Day Of The Dead (the original) deals with the struggle between the scientists and the army, and so on...

The remakes are action horrors, IMO. I enjoy them, but they focus more on humans kicking ass.

That's about the disturbed Vietnam vet, isn't it? I've not seen it, but I've heard great things about it, there's a copy of it on video somehwere in my house.

I wouldn't call it a horror film, but it's in a similar vein to Jacob's Ladder - but The Machinist really freaked me out when I first saw it, great film; Bale's best role, apart from American Psycho.

Old thread revival!

That film could have been so much better if it had better acting. Some of it is piss poor.
Would have helped to have been less confusing too. I kinda understood what it was about, but I had to watch it a couple times through- which didnt help my opinion of it since the acting was terrible.

Theres being arty, and then theres being pretentious. It was an ok film though.

Alot of you have some really ignorant views on asian cinema, its not all Ring/grudge-esque you know. I guess that can't be helped since there isnt enough exposure of others in the west.

Although I guess it is more of a thriller, '2LDK' is another good asian horror film.
It is about two actresses with totally opposite personalities, sharing an apartment, who have applied for the same role, waiting for the call back.
Over one evening, they slowly irritate and eventually go crazy at each other.

Worth watching.
