Well, I went to the store and looked around and a neat little 2x10" Kustom cuaght my eye.

Its the Kustom Double Barrel. It came out recently (no more than 2 years ago).

Its a SS, 60W, 2x10. 3-band EQ, volume, gain, OD volume. delay/reverb, chorus, FX ON/OFF.

Straight forward. That's what I was going for let the amp be an amp, no FX. Thats what pedals are for.

The cleans are pretty nice. No Twin Reverb, obviously. But with a good chorus and/or EQ can really open up. Reverb is okay, a bit fakey if you bang too hard.

Overall, I would compare it to a Cube 60 or something like that, minus models and fx. But my opinion doesnt matter.

So what does UG think of my find?

Also do they make the same thing (same controls)but twice as good cleans?

looks like a decent solid state amp. i like most of the Kustom solid state stuff. i have the KGA series, good metally amp.

have you checked out the Kustom double cross? powerful tube head. videos on it look pretty good.

I would Kivarenn82, but I dont need that much wattage or volume. Though I've heard good stuff about it. Also I prefer a combo so I dont have to lug stuff seperately.

Also, MusiciansFriend says its only 30W RMS. Is that total or per speaker (making it a 60W, total)?

But since its 2x12", would it be loud enough for band (drums, keyboard, lead, bass, and vocals), even if it is only 30W total?

It would be 30 watts total. i can't really say how loud that would end up being coming out of 2x12's..

but depending on the drummer, it could pass in a jam situation. what kinda music are you playing?

Classic Rock (60's, 70's and 80's), and some jazz stuff when the mood hits me.

I am trying to get my friends to start a band with me. If so it will be me (rythm), lead, bass, drums, keyoard, and vocals.

Would 30W 2x12 be loud enough to hold its own with all that?

What about PA-ed?

30 watts solid state. well with my 60 watt (also solidstate) i only had to put it to 6 to keep up with a loud metal drummer and a bassist.

its really depends on how loud the other guys are, i imagine you shouldn't have much of a problem if your drummer knows how to stifle himself at least a little bit.

Worst case scenario, I'd have to PA it and use it as a stage monitor, right?

I don't know about solid state for guitar, but let's put it this way. With my 20 watt tube amp at 4, I rape my drummer. =D

I wouldn't be surprised if they hit again not long after purchasing that.

even with a 60 watt tube amp like a peavey 5150, i'd be running it thru a PA and using it as a monitor. let the PA do the grunt work
