So, I was at a local BestBuy today, (New Jersey) and was with my friends playing guitar hero World Tour because my friend had to buy a camera. But, while we were playing one friend spots a big red enclosed area with 'musical instruments' on it.

So, we walk in and it's a like a mini Guitar Center, except with no assholes. There is a couple sound-proof rooms with a bunch of drums, guitars, and acoustics in them. On the wall were guitars. (legit guitars, not the starter BestBuy brand.) Fenders, high end Gibsons, etc. Plus the workers all were really chill and let you do whatever without hovering over you lookign for a commision sale.

EDIT: Plus a good variety of amps, keyboards, music composing computers, mixing wheels, and electric drumsets.

When did Bestbuy all of a sudden rock?

It always has. It's just increasing it's range of sexyness. It's like the new walmart, but it's not shit.

Good electronics, good instruments recently, hell, it's like a music store with games and other shit in it now. Win.

It's been like that for a few months now. They started small, testing in a few shops and such, but it seems sales were good and it's spreading like wild fire. Frankly, I love it.

I know. BestBuy is now my favorite store. What's better then playing around with some electronics then trying out some guitars?

*sigh* I live in Albany, Georgia. Theres no Best Buy within an hour of here. Ive got my hopes up that they'll build one before I go off to college. No guitar center here either... major suckage

Edit: Holy shit, theyre selling a C-1 Hellraiser with Original Floyd Rose for only 700... thats 150 less than Guitar Center. Something smells fishy, or Best Buy are just dumbasses

Edit again: Wait... it's only available in black. Damn

Hey man, what Best buy did you find em at? I saw a sign at the best buy in Oxford Valley PA saying that there would be quality instruments coming soon. I live in Trenton NJ, so I'm curious as to what store you saw the instruments at because I would go and check it out.

What they're doing is selling high end guitars so people go there and shop.

It's clever really, you can't blame them.

Why can't Argos do that?

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

LOL, how cool is that. Some Gibby's and Strat's, a few Marshalls. Fair selection, at least online.

Where in Jersey? the one in my town doesn't have one (or at least hasn't in the last month since I've been there).
#12
They figure while they're putting Circuit City out of business, why not put a monopoly on more things?

When you think about it, Best Buy could easily run any guitar store out of business. GC and Sam Ash are the only two well known, really good places to get guitars that have shops. There's more Best Buys than GC and Sam Ash so it's less of a drive to get there and it'll get popular.

The Best Buys I go to in Lexington Kentucky don't have guitars or other musical equipment. The sales clerk I asked about it said if the ones that have guitars have good sales figures on the musical equipment then all Best Buys will start selling musical equipment. So I hope it goes over well.

they modded an older one where i work in Ann Arbor, Michigan.. the grand opening for it was yesterday

Not to mention you'd have to put up with the voice going

'Cashier number 4 please!'

When you think about, I'm glad they don't sell decent guitars there!!

I should apply for a job at the Best Buy near me specificallly for guitar stuff. I wonder if they will consider that.

Damn, that is cool. I remodel grocery stores right now...remodeling a Best Buy to carry instruments would be wicked...and probably easier b/c no fooking Health Department to deal with...at least that I can figure...

It would nice to have some options, anyway...

I went to the new one nearest me yesterday and the only guitar they had was a Starcaster. Needless to say I was pretty disappointed.

Its not about the Radio its about talent, the front man has a bigger vocal range than Micheal Jackson and he can sing from heavey metal to high pitched ...No.12 on the top 20 under rated guitarists of ALL TIME...etc

Wow I live in such a lame place. I hate northeast mississippi.

No guitar center for about 2 hours. Memphis has one and I think it's a little closer than 2 hours.

The Best Buy here is really really small and there's no hopes of having something cool like a guitar section.

I still like Long & McQuade...

Although is Canadian BestBuys start selling instruments, I'll be blowing the manager for a position.

That sounds like pure-awesomeness, but Canada hasn't been altered yet
I think they aren't hovering over you because they get paid hourly wages, not by commision? I saw that on one of their commercials long ago, they're their for helping you get what's best sorta thing, not making you get what's best.

But do they sell propane and propane accessories?

I saw an ad that they were hiring for a new music department in best buy a few months back but I couldn't make the interview cuz of school and my other job
