Ok, so I have this humming sound on my amp whenever its turned on, plugged into my guitar or whenever I touch the cable, when I leave the cable on the floor or I turn the volume down on my guitar all the way it goes away. It's extremely annoying when recording and all points lead to a grounding issue, I just need a little re-assurance and how to fix it. My amp is a Behringer V-Tone GM108 15 Watt Combo.

P.S: Dont tell me my amp is the problem, dont be a smart ass...its the only thing I could and can afford

New lead?

All amps hum a little, get a new lead and see how that works

I had the problem your describing once and one of the wires soldered to the input jack on the amp had worked loose (grounding issue). I resoldered it, the hum went away and has never come back.

Well the amp is like £30 :p

It might be the guitar, does it have passive or Active Pickup electronics?

If it has Active Pickups, Change the battery in the guitar. If its Passive, Take your amp to a specialist or Guitar store.

It happens with all guitars, I'm thinking its a grounding issue because it only happens when its touching something, whether it be my guitar or me. I dont think its the cable since its happened to me with every single cable I bought.

I have the same problem, happened with both amps and all my guitars. I reckon its to do with my power sockets. I keep meaning to get it sorted because I get mild shocks if my forearms on the strings or something.

Does the amp make the noise when nothing is plugged into it (no lead or anything)?

try a different brand of lead, i know when i used one from maplin when i first bought my amp it buzzed but seeing as i had never played guitar i thought it was normal... then changed it a few month back, and the buzz isn't there anywhere near as much

Nope, that's something that's weird to me, but I dont know much about amps so...educate me!

then it's not the amp, it has to be the guitar or the lead you are using. If you are using an instrument lead rather than a guitar lead that can do it. Sometimes lights can send off a hum that is picked up by the guitar too. The most likely thing is that you are playing guitars that don't have shielded body cavities which means you will get hum when you are not touching the strings and a bit of a "pop" right when you do touch the strings before the hum goes away. If the problem is shielding in your guitars then you need to shield them. If it's your lights then you are going to have to get used to playing in the dark, and if its your lead then you need to get a guitar lead rather than an instrument lead.

Well sounds like it's your cable to me you might have bought more than one type of cable but are they cheap thin ones or thicker expensive ones because thicker more expensive cables hum a lot less than thin ones.

their cables crapped out on me a couple times while playing a larger venue, lucklily between songs, but nonetheless not impressed with the quality of their gear.
