Yes!!!! Ive got there live DVD so amazing
SHE walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellow'd to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

Don't worry, people that actually post in this forum (unlike him) don't think that is an appropriate answer.

the ug hardcore forum is so slow compared to bgo
but i somewhat prefer it, bgo is full of hostile elitist c*nts that tear you to shreds if you make a bad post or say something they dont agree with.

Modern Life Is War - Witness. has already influenced bands like Have Heart and Verse on their newest records, and i think a lot more bands will use their sound.

I would put Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Black Flag, etc. but since the question is what bands changed hardcore, I'd have to say:

Cro-Mags- Age of Quarrel (people are still trying to be them today)
Unbroken- Discography (crucial metalcore band)
Infest- Slave (helped get powerviolence moving)

As for records that will likely change hardcore:

Pulling Teeth- Vicious Skin (shred riffs and excellent vocals without being a metal band)
Cursed- II (probably one of the best albums ever made)
Comeback Kid- Wake the Dead (I'm not really into them, but there's no denying that this album was pretty big, fairly accessible, and drew a lot of people into the music)

There's some other bands like Quicksand, Lifetime, Burn, Kid Dynamite, Judge, Integrity, Descendents, In My Eyes, and 7 Seconds that belong in those lists too, but I didn't think of them soon enough.

Cro-Mags - AOQ (what band doesnt try to sound like this?)
Siege - Drop Dead (or Infest - Slave) (pretty important for anything fast or PV)
Black Flag - Damaged (obviously)

and a few i think may change hardcore

****ed Up - Hidden World (kinda obvious, one of the most original bands in hardcore right now)
American Nightmare - Background Music (already has but more and more bands are playing this style)
MLIW - Witness (band sucks, album sucks, but tons and tons of bands are starting to play this style)

lol the new have heart? groundbreaking? changing? not in the slightest bit. and i'm not just saying that because i don't like them. The new verse is also not groundbreaking either, its same old verse. Now maybe i could agree with rebuild or from anger and rage.

the only record i can think of that is really grounbreaking in this time period is

the carrier - one year later

hahaha first post i made i was flamed because i had "viper town" as my location.

and i dont think isolation is that ground breaking
although its an amazing album there is allot out there that has done the slow melodic hardcore thing before carpathian.

Now this is the kind of good thread we need. In terms of records that have changed hardcore I'd go with:

Integrity - Den Of Iniquity. Let's face it, one of the best if not the best early metallic hardcore albums.

Cro-Mags - Age Of Quarrel. As has already been said, there are so many bands trying to be Cro-Mags still and they all just can't do it.

Bad Brains - S/T. Back in the 80's Bad Brains were THE band to be.

As far as modern records that are still changing hardcore today I'll go with:

Cursed - I'm not picking an album because their discography is just incredible.

Carry On - It's All Our Blood. This album was fast, hard and emotionally charged. Everything that a hardcore band should be.

Modern Life Is War - Modern Life Is War EP. Not their best as far as I'm concerned but definitely influential.

^ Definitely MLIW. Someone mentioned 'Runaways' up the top, which is a great record, but for me bands like that were influenced by MLIW in the first place so it makes sense to mention them.

You're not alone, it's a really annoying and unoriginal (and more often than not irrelevant) response.

i really dont know that many bands from the 80s so i guess i'll just go with newer bands, some of which are not strictly hardcore. more of a favorites list actually.

converge - jane doe
converge - petitioning the empty sky
shai hulud - hearts onced nourished with hope and compassion

poison the well - opposite of december
the carrier - i really like all of their stuff at the moment, but one year later might be my favorite.

hope conspiracy - cold blue
have heart - the things we carry
black flag - damaged. pretty much the only older one im familiar with.

My Carpathian post seems to be disliked.

I'm not saying it's changed an awful lot (because it's just gotten released) but with it, we see a hugely doom influenced hardcore record with lyrics everyone can relate to, so we can see numerous bands coming out next year with this style, because Carpathian are more mainstream over here anyway than a lot of the other slower hardcore bands out.

My view, but yeah.

Yeah, doom influenced. Sludgy would have been a better word, but yeah, doom.

There may be other bands who did it first, but Carpathian are so much more mainstream. And while I know that most hardcore is about this, but Carpathian are just so blatant about it. Best band out there now, absolutely awesome.
