I am looking for a new guitar
I have been playing for just over a year and am of an intermediate skill level
I was going to get an epiphone les paul standard the reviews are good and the price is quite good
but would it be wise for someone like myself to buy this guitar ?

if not please make a recomendation

This.

I have an Epi LP Standard and they're pretty good... apart from the bridge pickup. -.-

If you want the real deal when it comes to Les Pauls, save up for a Heritage (the original Gibson).

...modes and scales are still useless.

Yeah, go for it! when I was playing for about a year I upgraded from my squier beginner guitar to a epiphone LP standard and it was quite a nice upgrade. really inspired me to play better and stuff

If I were going to buy a les paul i definitely wouldn't look at an epiphone. You can probably find an american strat somewhere in the same price range and you won't be pissed you bought it years later.
