First off, i'm looking to sell my amp. It's a Peavey Bandit 112 w/ extension cabinet. How much would be a good reasonable price to sell it for. I am looking at this amp http://columbiamo.craigslist.org/msg/912346021.html has anyone played one? What is your experience with this amp and is it a good deal. i play metal.

Budget is under $800. I play mainly metal, thrash. Bands like Metallica, Trivium, Slayer, Megadeth, Pantera. It doesn't have to be a halfstack, but loud enough for a band practice, or small gig.

I've heard good things about the valveking. The best tube screamer would be the Ibanez TS9 right? Noise suppressor I was looking at the MXR or would a Boss be better.

Nah, the valveking is pretty wank, especially at 800. It's all opinion, but the 808 is generally considered better then the TS9. The best noisegate is the ISP Decimator.

Would a Half stack be too much for me right now? Would a combo amp do for small gigs and practice?

If 800 is your budget you could probably find a JSX head for like 700 if you're lucky and buy a cheap 4x12 cabinet.

Thats if you don't mind buying use.

Also i got a peavey fullstack if you look at my sig.
I got it for 590 all together.

A JSX would be great. But a bad cab will riun it.

bugera 6260 or 6262 ftw!
i second what felix has said
808>9
decimator>other noise gates
btw thats a very bad cab too, don't worry about halfstacks
they are overrated

right Metallica is a given. Personally I like to pretend the bus exploded and killed them all in '86.

I would say if you're not gigging big then get a combo.
Later on buy a cabinet if you need to look cool.

Get a used 5150 combo, that should be cheap
enough and should cover whatever you need.
Then get an ISP Decimator to kill the noise.
