so im looking to get a new acoustic and im thinking a martin because they are pretty good for folk stuff that im interested in playing. What are some good Martin guitars that are exemplary for playing folk

For 949 bucks you can get a Martin 00 body-style guitar. It has a real strong treble sound that is what folk music is usually based on

Take a look at Blueridge guitars. Some are Martin Copies and compare favorably and don't cost as much.
