Ok, I have to write an essay, and here is my topic:

Research a musician or group whos music and lyrics make political statements and involve using music to fight authority and to "right" political wrongs. If possible, include evidence that your musicican or group has had a demonstrable effect on politics and history. You will need to quote some lyrics in your essay, in addition to your secondary research.

So UG, what musician/group should I choose, and what are some examples of their music that makes political statements and fights authority.

Thanks

I like staring at girls' boobs and seeing how long it takes them to say something and what their reaction is. It's win-win-win

Discuss the moral implications of an Oldsmobile and its political impact on the person referred to as "you" in the song.

Megadeth, Rage Against The Machine, System of a Down I believe. Lots of bands have politically charged lyrics. Also, Google's search engine works.

Ok guys, how about some lyrics and examples of righting political wrongs.

Lyrics - all of Rage's lyrics. And I mean ALL.

A simple google of their name will tell you all you need to know about political demonstrations, protests etc. that they've been major parts of. One example is the Sleep Now In The Fire video. It was shot on Wall Street and there were so many fans etc. that Wall Street actually closed for a day, some achievement right there.
