I'm in the mood for some bass music, like marcus miller, general groovy basslines, and most of all, metal bass, links that'll keep me in that lovely mood
#2
Victor Wooten goes without saying.

Listen to Mudvayne's L.D. 50 album if you wanna hear some really good bass playing.
Do you feel warm within your cage?

And have you figured out yet -

2 words: Steve DiGiorgio

especially Sadus, but pretty much anything he's played on (and there is a LOT) will have some sick metal bass.

other than that... hmmmm... Iron Maiden and early Metallica go without saying, Mudvayne have already been said, plus I don't like them anyway... I'll let someone else deal with this. I'll think about it later.

As stated above, Steve Digiorgio. I'd just like to add Urotsukidoji to the list of his stuff which is worth checking out. Also, early Testament has some nice basslines.

Steve Harris>Cliff Burton

While I agree with you, Burton never really had a chance to hone his skills the same way that Harris did, Burton really only had a few albums to work on before he got pulled away to the big gig in the sky, he burned out before he got a chance to fade away like Harris (and many other musicians from the era) seems to be doing.

And of course it can always be argued that Burton wasn't really a 'bassist' after all, just a great musician that wound up playing bass (probably just filling the holes cause by the thousands of guitarists that popped up out of nowhere in the 80s).
