Has anyone tried this amp?
I'm looking for something loud, all tube, that can fit my style of music, and since Kirk is my biggest influence, I'd say this fits my style very well.
But I want to know UG's opinion of this amp before I make any decisions.
Thoughts?

So the $800 one is solid state?

It's probably loud and may do metal well, but Kirk used Marshalls in all albums before AJFA, I believe. From then he used Mesa until his Randall endorsement.
But no, that amp isn't tube.

Actually, he used a Marshall for Kill 'Em All, and a Mesa/Boogie Mark II C+ up until the end of ...And Justice For All. Then I do believe he used Marshall again. Still does, actually, though he combines with Mesa/Boogie. Er, at least he did on Saturday when I saw them.

well imo the cheaper sig models are not worth the money, when for something close in that price range you can get a Bugera, which is great for metal and budget priced. and also will you be playing this in a band situation or just home use?

The funny thing about what Kirk done was get a signature amp based on a Fender Blackface (channel 1 on a Mark IV), a Middy/mesa gain (Mark IV lead), and then a lead boosted channel 2 (Mark IV with overdrive).

The true Kirk sig amp is a Mark IIC+ but a Mark IV will do the job well. A Mesa Recto does a pretty good job as well.

MESAexplorer, I was aware of that, but I'm not going to pay another $1300 on top of the price of the KH120RS to get a Mark II C+. Those things are like $2100. Plus I'd need a cab to hook it to, because, to answer Walt's question, I am using for a band situation.
