So, I have a bunch of finger exercises I've been practicing daily to help improve my finger strength. The spider, a load of permutations, and the below (the name escapes me)

| -1-2-------------------------------------------------2-1---------|

| -2-3--------------------------------------------------3-2--------|

| -3-4--------------------------------------------------4-3--------|

Are there any other exercises I should add to this routine?
Work on all 24 permutations and make sure you check out Freepower's videos on finger independance and correct practice.

ive never heard of the term" finger independance " that inspires me to practice, thanks bro!
Do those ^.

Besides what's fun is doing the steve vai 10 hour workout. UG has the tabs.

You don't have to do it for 10 hours. Just do the exercises fo 5-10 mins each or for how much ever time you have allotted. The first 10 i think are more towards alternate picking and finger independence and dexterity. They help a lot !!! And they're super fun when your fingers are all over the fretboard.

put hand flat on table, lift middle finger and thumb together, then index and ring. these exercises help.
Personally I don't spend much time (or any time) on that type of "spider" chromatic
stuff. I've found it has very little transfer value to things you may actually want to
play as music. So, I find it's mostly a waste of time.

I think you're better off working on musical ideas with scales. You'll get plenty of
"finger independence" that way too.
Mostly for finger independence I did neo classical junk.
This lick is on the high E string:

As most people did, I found that the ring and pinky finger to be little punks that refused to do what they were told. Also, this little thing helped with finger strength as well as independence:

Track 1
      S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S
E ||--7p-4h-7p-4h-5h-7p-5p-4h-7p-4h-7p-4h-5h-7p-5p-4h-|
B ||--------------------------------------------------|

  S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S  S

I try to stay away from things like chromatic things because ,as edg pointed out, they have little transfer value.
