Hi Guys
I was wondering how to go about this project.
I'm planning on taking this DKMG

And turning it into this:

I made sure the cut in the tail would miss the electronics. But how do i go about finishing it and im looking at maybe instead doing a teal blue. Also how would i go about some gibson burstbucker 2's to swap out the EMG81-85 i prefer the tonalities of the Gibson Style Pickups

This tutorial deals with cutting the body. He is doing something different, but the method is the same.

This tutorial deals with removing an existing finish.

This tutorial deals with painting a guitar.

In my opinion, that shape is ugly, and teal blue is even uglier. However, this is your guitar, and not mine, so I can only wish you the best of luck and hop this turns out exactly how you want.

i think it's a pretty sweet shape, even if your dinky will have a buttcrack... hahaha

seriously though, it's a neat concept, and there's no way you'd touch the electronics with that small of a cut. Otherwise, just follow Ottar's links and you should be good to go.

If not, that's what we're for!

I like the look of it, It's like a less extreme Ibanez Reb beach model.
