have you ever taken a solo from someone else's song and claimed it as your own?

#1
i was guilty of this a while ago. i stole the solo from iron man by black sabbath for my music project cos i was running out of time. i left it to late. nobody noticed but i was full of shame. any one else?
#2
Isn't that... Illegal?
I think its time to pack your things lets go,
To a place where we both know,
And dont worry, I'll drive real slow,
Spend some time before we go..

No, but I often think about showing Dream Theater demos to people and claiming that they were my band.

I need a band.

I take parts from solos, very rare that I do though, but never I claim them as my own. I usually, I'll write a solo and then realise it sounds kinda like another solo I've heard, then it's still kind of my own, so then I would.

I do not think that any part of what I just said made sense.

You could have at least been slightly original with your choice of solo.

Oscar Aitchison I wish you could have at least been slightly original with your musical stylings.

I wrote a great piano piece, then realised it was Somebody to Love, by Queen.

Wow, that wasn't stupid and unnecessary at all was it? If you've actually got something to say about my music that's not totally f*cking useless feel free to PM me, rather than attempting to ridicule me in a thread that has nothing to do with it.

uhh i take trademark licks and meld them into my improv work. but then again i play blues so alot of stuff is just ripped off and modded

haha CC, did anyone find out? Thats a pretty dumb thing to do. I mean, if you stole the solo from some Morbid Angel song noone would know but taking licks from a rock classic? lol. But then again Miley Cyrus plays the same shit on every song and none of her fans care

Stealing someone's guitar solo? And a solo by Iommi no less?!

That's worse than rape, you filth.

I've got the one intro played on the B and e strings in one of my songs, but the timing is different. So it's basically different, but not really.
