Nostalgia is my favorite feeling.

Recently, I dug out my old copy of Green Day's "American Idiot" album, a decent album in its own regard. But when I got to Wake Me Up When September Ends, I almost started crying. This was the first song playing in the first year I was allowed to go to school.

So many memories flooded back to me from that time in my life. I'm still reeling.

So Pit, what music brings back memories for you?

Nostalgia is awesome. Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory gives me that feeling a lot.

Sweetness and The Middle by Jimmy Eat World do as well.

I'll agree with that. I wasn't an angsty teenager, but I did love that album.

EDIT: Anything from Eric Clapton's Time Pieces does the nostalgia thing for me. It was often put on the car cassette player when I was much younger (4 years old upward). It reminds me of the old cars my family used to own.

The whole Dirt album by Alice In Chains. I remeber being 7 years old and cranking it.

Linkin Park yes! Papercut gives me shivers, it's like being 11 years old all over again. Also, I love it when you get a smell of something that reminds you of a holiday or another good time.

Hybrid Theory and Offspring's Americana do that for me. Also anything by David Bowie or Michael Jackson cause I grew up with that on the car radio.

the smell of evergreen trees. I haven't had a real tree in my house for xmas for years now, we bring up some fake one that's packed away nicely in the basement. Its not the same thing as a real tree. The smell of a real evergreen makes me think of a time when I thought santa was real....

:O LP for you too? I first heard them when I was 8 years old...They're what got me into heavier music (By heavier, I mean heavier than N-sync.) And music in general. Though I dislike them for the most part now, I owe them a lot.

The only hit I think was the cover of a Buggles song - "Video Killed the Radio Star". But I also quite enjoy "Love Delicatessen".

And yes - I too love nostalgia. Every time I pick up my 3rd grade yearbook, I'm overwhelmed with it.

haha this thread alone is giving me nostalgia all the songs i used to listen to in middle/high school. SR-71 was the shit, that "right now" song is still in some of my playlists. oh and to the guy talking about presidents of the USA, "peaches" was a great f**king song... well actually it was kinda stupid but the memories of it are great

Man, I remember how I started listening to music now. I used to search "dragonball z" on Kazaa (or whatever people used back then), and then download everything that came up. Among the things I downloaded were DBZ videos set to Linkin Park's music. :p I think that was the first time I (accidentally) watched porn >.>

I guess I was fortunate enough to have a mother who hated plastic trees. The smell is amazing, it emanated through the house, beautiful Combine that with cinnamon and you have the greatest smell in the world.

The smell of sawdust and cigarette smoke. My Step-dad was a chain smoker and worked in a lumberyard before he got stomach cancer and passed away. He was such a cool guy. Actually introduced me to Iron Maiden.

cigarette smoke reminds me of when I was a kid, something like 5-9ish. specifically, being in my dad's old shitty car having the time of my life as he drove like a damn maniac. Which in turn makes me miss my dad. Nostalgia can go two ways, really...
