Ah, sucks, realistically too far away from me (Canterbury).

Good luck anyways!

Distance is such a bitch sometimes..
Thanks anyway! ;P

Where abouts in Kent are you? I'm at university in Kent so I'm not there all the time at the moment but certainly enough when I am.

I'm in Maidstone.
Hi, my name's Liam - I'm 19 years old.
I've been studying music & playing guitar and bass for almost ten years or so now.

I studied music at college for two years, in that time I played live a few times to small audiences in pubs and bars etc as part of college assignments - the adrenaline rush was amazing. It's really demoralising to go back to sitting in my room practicing by myself, so I've decided to start looking for a band again.

Ideally other band members would be at least 18 years of age, I don't mind if you're younger as long as you're mature and serious about music - I've had bad experiences with previous bands.. the drummer was 13.

So you have an idea of the bands I'm into, a few of my influences are;
Dir en grey, Trivium, Slipknot, Metallica, Slayer, etc.

And to give you an idea of my ability, check out a few of my covers here (I know they aren't amazing but it's the best I could do with entry level home recording equipment)

If anyone's interested, get in touch, send me a PM here on UG or send an email;

Hey! I'm in Kent, although near Canterbury which is some distance from you, and I play guitar. Self taught for 7 years. I have similar tastes to you (Foo Fighters, LP, Metallica, Slipknot) but also interested in playing some calmer stuff - take the Cash version of Hurt (sorry no bass there!) or Pearl Jam's Indifference as a couple of examples.

Do you have your own transport? Personally I ride a motorbike, so transporting equipment isn't too easy, even a guitar in a case on my back is susceptible to a snapped neck (wind resistance!)

I'm also 19 btw.

I think Maidstone is a bit far for us to arrange regular rehersals etc - and we'd need a drummer, vocalist and another guitarist (either rhythm or lead, I can do both).

Just thought it was worth saying something

L.

Yeah, distance is a bit of problem. Can't afford to learn to drive or anything at the moment unfortunately so I'd have to get lifts or train journeys, both of which will be fairly expensive.
Damn it. Misleading much! I saw Weymouth - there's a place in England 10 minutes away from me called Weymouth. You should specify you're from the US.
Like the above, British.
Guitar & bass, got basic home recording equipment. Line 6 GuitarPort & Audacity.
Been playing for nearly 10 years, studied for two years at college.
Mainly into rock/metal but I'm willing to experiment with other genres. Looked through your list of bands, <3 MSI and Cradle of Filth.
Might be interested. I'm around 30-40 mins away from you by car but my previous band was in Gravesend.. didn't last long as they were all pretty immature. Need some more info before I can make any decisions though. Name, age, where we'd be rehearsing and how often etc. Get in touch.

Looking to join or form some kind of band in or around the Maidstone area in Kent, England.

I'm mainly into rock / metal, but I'm open minded as to what genres the band would play - I've always wanted to find a somewhat progressive/experimental band.
Bands who label themselves under one genre seem to become stuck in a rut & just churn out the same old manufactured crap with every record - so I'd like the band to mix stuff up a bit, for each record to sound different to the last.

I'm 19 - age of the other band members doesn't really bother me too much.
I've been self-taught on guitar and bass for almost ten years on and off now, and I studied music at college for two years.
Picked up a few basic skills on drums and keyboards, and I'm pretty good with music theory etc.

I'm up for doing covers, but I don't particularly want to join an exclusive cover band.
I want to be creative, start writing our own material and such.

I've got some previous experience of playing live due to college performances, but I haven't recorded anything in a studio yet.

I've got my own equipment - bass, amp, pedals etc.
If you're around my area, I should be able to get transport for rehearsal sessions and such.

If you're interested, get in touch.

got any clips of your playing?

Oops, thought I posted the kind of bands I like.
I'll edit that and list some. Though to be honest, I'm not too picky, I just want to start playing in a band. Don't want to stick to the same genres all the time.

Haven't got any videos as I haven't got a camera to record with, but I have a few covers recorded.
Got quite a lot on my profile but the majority of those are old now and I've progressed since.

Here are two recent ones from my youtube.

I'm from near there, I'm not interested personally. But I know a a couple of people who might be, I'll mention it to them for you. If they're interested, I'll give them the details you left at the bottom of your post.

Alright, thanks.

I live in Maidstone, but I'm looking to set up / join a band, not just jam.
Bah..
Oops, sorry. Didn't see that I had to name the songs / attach the tabs.

Songs I mentioned in my last post that have all been rejected multiple times despite only getting approval votes are by the band Dir en grey.

Songs are: Grief, Agitated Screams of Maggots, Dead Tree and Hageshisa to Kono Mune no Naka de Karamitsuita Shakunetsu no Yami.
A load of my tabs have been rejected multiple times, when they were full tabs and more accurate than the tabs already up, (there were only one or two others of each song), and when the tabs have each gotten up to 4 approval votes.
The 'Uroboros' album by Dir en grey.
Mine was kind of embarrassing, but I found it hilarious at the same time.
Everyone used to call me Cockriding Jesus while I was at college.
Re-unification of "British Engish"..?

bass player needs to be female for the background voice. and from lots of experience girls are MUCH better at bass then guys...

Gender has nothing to do with skill on an instrument.
Those guys must have been shitty bassists.

Would it be worth buying one?
That's my only question, really. =P
Wanted: Metal vocalist & drummer in the Maidstone area. Kent, UK.

  • Vocalist must be able to adapt to screams, growls, etc.
  • Drummer must have their own kit, and preferably (although not necessary) space to fit a band for practice.
  • Previous band experience not necessary.
  • Concert experience not necessary.
  • Must be comitted.
  • Any age.
  • Vocalist can be male or female, doesn't matter.

We're a guitarist and bassist, we've been looking for other band members nearly a year now, and we're incredibly eager to get started.

We have a few songs written and we're working on more, but we're looking for more members to add more versatility to the music we can write.

If you're interested, get in touch with either me or Ash.

I'd be up for recording bass if it's not too technical for me to play.
I can't do all the insane sweep picking, four finger tapping stuff..
I do..

Also, I'm not going to ask a question
