You will find that pedal order can have a huge effect on the tone entering your amp;

A wah is basically a variable filter - when you place an overdrive/distortion after the wah, you distort the wah's output. In some cases you will find that the distortion will 'curb' the effect of the filter, 'softening' its sweep or something similar. You will find that having the wah on the other side of a distortion will have a different sound. It's all about experimentation and preference. Personally, I have my wah before OD's and distortion.

Now, the compressor 'squashes' your tone to give more sustain or a more even sound. This could also be having an adverse effect on the sweep of the wah - again, try experimenting with the position of the wah in relation to the compressor.

This applies to all your pedals ; whilst there is some theory to where you should place your pedals in a chain, order is subjective and down to personal preference. Try it and see.
I respect that there are technical people out there and people who either are not technical or do not care to be, but distinguishing between pickup types is not brain surgery.

Or even rocket science, for that matter.

If it's an uncovered pickup, then it's a case of counting the coils. It's like identifying the difference between a motorbike and a car. A cover could make things a little trickier when it comes to identification - but it's still just a case of considering the dimensions of the pickups in the vast majority of cases.

What surprises me most is that your friend spent as much as $600 on an instrument and doesn't know something as basic as pickup types, especially considering the difference between the sound of a single coil and a humbucker.
Saturday bump.

No longer in the market for a delay, but if feel free to make any cash/trade offers
that was what I was asking. What about a short delay time but quite a long feedback/more than one 'slap back' repeat?
Slapback delay - analog or digital?
What's the PSU? What's the mA rating on it? And it only occurs when used in conjunction with another pedal?
Thursday bump. Just to mention, I also have the official Line 6 PSU and the user manual.
Monday Bump. Really looking for a Timeline, so hit me up regardless of whether you're interested in the M13 or not.

I haven't decided what I'll use yet, but I did a single channel KoT and I think I used 1N914's in place of the MA856's.

I've read the 856's are no less generic than the more common diodes, though I have no experience with them myself.

I may well be interested if it's still available once I've finally decided on the route I'll take. The GT-100 looks good but it's very expensive. With the M13 I may need one or maybe two additional pedals for odd songs but as a used M13 would be a lot less than a new GT-100, clearly it is economically viable. The other option I'm thinking about is a TC Electronics G-Major with a midi foot controller. I've never used rack effects before but it seems like I could get one of these quite cheaply on Ebay and it will broadly offer me much the same as the G-System.

Cool - here's a link to my thread if you want to see some pictures.

I ran the M13 alongside a wah, various dirt pedals and a compressor - I used it for delays, reverbs, modulations and looping. The dirt models on the M13 leave a lot to be desired, but the delays and reverbs in particular are excellent. The modulations are hit and miss, some are fantastic and some are not.

On the plus side for the G Major, it may offer you more scope to expand your rack possibilities in the future - depends whether you see yourself as a rack kinda guy or not.

You can do exactly that - the M13 has four effect blocks (each with three selectable effects), with programmable options as to where the loop sends and returns. So, you could have the send/return immediately after the first block which you set to an overdrive. You then route from the M13's FX Send into the front of your amp, and route back to the M13's FX return from the FX Send of your amp. The next three blocks you can dedicate to modulations, delays and reverbs - complete the chain by running a cable from the M13's output into your amp's FX return.

Basically, just treat the M13 as four individual stompboxes and all should become clear.

The M13 also allows you to programme after which block you want the FX loop to be inserted for each of the 12 individual scenes.

I'm actually selling one, PM me if you're interested
Bump.

Also interested in a tap-tempo analog delay (i.e. Deluxe Memory Boy/Man)
This always seems to come round when I'm in the middle of a board overhaul *facepalm*
Hi guys - I'm looking to shift my Line 6 M13. I'll throw in my M-Audio Uno for downloading and managing updates from your computer, as well as a Roland EV5 expression pedal.

The M13 is in good condition, with the odd scratch and scrape (notably in the top left corner, will post photos on request) - but cosmetics aside, it's in full working order. The M-Audio Uno is practically in new condition, having been used only once to update the M13 to latest software. The EV5 is very much aged and is not in the best condition - it's suitable for experimenting and home use, but if you're serious about gigging with an expression pedal I'd probably look into getting a new unit from somewhere.
