and i can still use a line-in with asio4all? huh.
Hey guys,

so plugged in Revalver MkIII for the first time today. Sounds great! only problem is, there's a lot of lag. If i lower the bit sampling rate, it decreases the lag a little, but it still hovers around 1/4 second. it's pretty bad.

I'm just straight plugged into the line-in port, and my guitar is a LTD MH400NT (so i don't think it's an impedance difference causing the lag)

does anybody know why i'm getting lag? is my computer just slow, or is it an inherent problem playing through the line-in? tips on reducing the lag would be great as well. i also might just chip out and get an audio interface.

thanks!

Hey all,
just a quick question. I'm gonna be getting a new audio interface soon, to play with revalver/amplitube until i can get a new amp. my options are: line6 pod studio GX, and a behringer UCA222.

now i know the pod studio is a decent enough interface that i should be able to use with no problem, but $100 seems a little steep to me for an interface. should i dish out the money for that, or is the UCA222 good enough in terms of sound quality/latency/ease of use where i could go for that ($40 vs. $100)?

tl;dr Line6 POD Studio GX or Behringer U-Control UCA222

thanks
Hey all,
looking to buy a rectoverb series 2 1x12. I live in the chicago area, looking to pay $800 shipped, but willing to go up to no more than $900. thanks.
if you have a case you'd be willing to part with, i'm interested as well
Hey all, looking to buy a hellraiser c-1, or anything in the ltd 400 range (preferably M, MH, H, or MHNT, no vipers please)...looking to pay ~$400. if you have a case thats preferred. thanks very much.
Hey all, i've been messing around in open D a lot lately, been learning a lot of stuff by Masaaki Kishibe for example. can you guys recommend me any artists that also play in primarily open D that have a similar style to Kishibe, and antoine dufour, mckee, etc.?

thanks much
yeah that's a fantastic deal
so....adjust the height?

additional question: i know that dc resistance doesn't translate to volume, but it does affect gain/compression.

why, then, do calibrated neck/bridge sets always have a lower DCR in the neck?
Hey all,

really simple/brief question.

What happens if you stick the same pickup in both neck and bridge position? not a matched set, but the exact same pickup? do you have to adjust for height? (closer = louder, right?)

i was considering an EMG 85/85 combo, or something else of the sort.
bump for a really good deal. cmon people these are usually $100 each new, and he's giving you 2 for $120.

not interested myself, but just a question: TWO 85's for both positions? did you have to adjust the height at all?
pathetique sonata mvt 2
queen
ac/dc
steve vai (though i think satch is brilliant, i think vai is just full of himself)
so i have a longer post to make on here but i'm very tired right now.

so i'll just ask this:

what are some good places to take a FRIEND on a date that aren't too date-y? you know, where the atmosphere is still fun and relaxed instead of like OMG DINNER AND A MOVIE

ice skating, concerts, dunno what else

if anyone has the list from the previous relationship thread, that would help greatly. thanks.
you know the birds they used to fly sam and frodo out at the end of return of the king?

why not just use those to fly into mordor?

also, full 3d pokemon MMORPG. can you say greatest game ever
haha seriously if you're into satanism are you sure you're not just being an asshole?

i mean if satan exists, God exists. so you're going to believe that a God who created the world exists but purposely root for the guy trying to bring him down?
lol. green day isn't punk.

and asking about a "punk sound" is anti-thetical to everything punk actually is. punk is about the attitude and the aggressiveness, not the quality of the music or what it sounds like.

there's no such thing as a "punk sound".

if you want a green day sound, then just boost your mids a ton, doesn't matter what pickups you use, and just play some power chords. you'll be making millions in no time.
black metal friday?
what if i don't have a case? and my guitar is all solid wood (silver creek)
used Ibanez prestige S, or new ibanez S470(dxqm, if you want a quilt top) and swap out the pickups; should go right under $800 and you get a fantastic smooth guitar with a smooth trem

EDIT: that michael kelley looks like a damn good idea. seriously.
hey so,

quick question, Pit.

this friend of mine at college who, long story short, I kind of unofficially dated for a while (~1 month) and it was getting pretty serious, but for reasons I dont want to talk about she broke it off. then we went to winter break for a month (we have a week left).

we're still fantastically good friends, so thats a plus. that's also part of the concern.

recently we've been talking alot (ALOT alot, i had to add text to my plan because i was texting her so much) and she infrequently brings up problems and things back home that frustrate or depress her, and she talks to me alot when she's bummed out and stuff.

it's never been about any other guys or anything, just alot about missing college and not having many friends left back home.

if i were to make a random guess, i'd say that the chances of her and i getting back together after break are fairly prevalent.

anyways, my problem is, am i still at risk of being the "emotional tampon" if she's coming to me to talk/cheer her up about NON-guy problems? in either case, how should i handle that type of thing, considering that talking to me makes her happy, without me wanting to become "THAT guy"?

thanks folks.

This girl was describing her favorite colors of blue (one being viridian) and she couldn't remember how to say it and I said "viridian, you know like viridian city in pokemon?"

Needless to say I blew her mind.

viridian's a shade of green.

notice how when you walk into viridian city...it's green.

cerulean is a shade of blue.

^ If she's talking about her feelings, then you're probably being used as an emotional tampon. If the focus of the talking is more on him and things he did, then it's different.
As you said, she's been showing a lot of interest in you. I don't think she would just totally change from one week to the next and "friend-zone" you. Women are weird, I know.

yeah, it's more about things he's done/is doing now that they're broken up, and not so much about what she thinks.

what should i do?

hey guys,

so i have a bit of a problem.

there's this girl i've been hanging out with at college and such, and so far we've hit it off incredibly well. we've hung out every night or close to it for the last week or so, just the two of us, and for want of brevity i'll just say that it's fairly obvious she likes me. alot.

anyways, here's the problem. she recently broke up with her boyfriend. and she hadn't been talking to me much about that or even at all, but ever since we left for thanksgiving break (for 1 week) it seems she's tried to unload her problems on me a bit.

for the most part i think i've done okay so far. unfortunately now she's in another state until the week is over, and i have no way of communicating with her except via phone/text (which i'm avoiding for the most part) and facebook. and she's been doing the whole unloading problems on me sporadically via facebook chat.

i know she's testing me, but i just need to figure this out. How can i avoid being her "emotional tampon"? how can i redirect a conversation so it doesn't end up with me being a psychological kleenex? i mean, how can i show her that i'm something more than just someone to talk to and then discard?

Her: "blah, blah, blah, ex bf, blah, blah, blah."
You: "tbh, the issues with your ex are not of much interest to me. i'd rather make plans to go places and do things with you. sorry if that seems cold, but he's history isn't he?"

thanks, that helps a little, i guess.

i don't want to do that and seem like i'm just brushing her off.

i just need a little more direction. can anybody help?

aka how the hell can i "pass" this "test" of hers? i know i need to not give in and not compromise, but i don't want to be an asshole either.

haha wow. thanks guys.

for real though i need legitimate thoughtful/cute ideas.

where are the UG girls when we need them?
HEy guys,

so a good friend of mine is having her big 18 today. hooray!

anyways, i want to do something hilarious for her birthday (she's in new york, i'm in central illinois) because that'd be sweet.

for example: this summer, for my 18, she (while still in tennessee) baked me a cheesecake and frosted my name on it and stuff. and then she ate it. but not before taking pictures and tagging me on facebook, etc.

anyways, any ideas towards anything thoughtfully hilarious i can do for her birthday while being really far away?

something photographable. definitely.

and hey, it's the thought that counts, right?

EDIT: oh yeah, and i was thinking about graffiting a wall with HAPPY BIRTHDAY on it and then tagging the pictures on FB. but i couldn't get any spraypaint.
....you're new to this, aren't you?
awesome, thanks all.

two more things- is one of those fancy schmancy high end $200 DI boxes necessary, or will a $40 no-EQ one do just fine?

and also, lespaulstudio, what's the reason for needing to bring down the volume on the bass channel? drowning out other channels otherwise/improper EQ of the bass?

thanks again
So who are you all voting for? I hear Ralph Nader is going at it again!
Hey all,

So my church youth group recently reacquired our bass (it was broken before) and i was wondering...

Is it alright to plug a bass (it's a Squier P-bass) straight into the PA? I've searched around google and stuff and it appears I need a DI box to balance out the signal, but I'm not sure if it will overwhelm the vocals and guitar or anything.

We don't have enough of a budget to buy an actual amp, so that's out of the question. So should I just go for straight in through a DI box or what? will the bass need to be EQ'ed differently in order not to blow out the PA speakers?

thanks
it's an older model. if you look around ebay for older LTDs, the headstocks are all like those too.
if you play only metal, you're better off getting just the amp and not getting the rp at all. reasoning? the bugera is supposed to get fairly high gain, and that plus a little bit of clean here and there is all the versatility you need.
I want cleavage to eat my woman's cheesecake.

lol epic thread
