Hey everyone. I'm 1/2 of Forms, a duo from Victoria, BC. Our debut album, "R/S" is available for free download from the micro label Dead Language Records, based out of NYC.
Here's a description of the CD:
"R/S is based on two recurring themes. The initial concept for the recording of R/S came from the Steve Reich composition “Clapping Music”. The first theme for R/S is the initial rhythmic motif from “Clapping Music” set to an E minor triad. The second theme is a chord progression based around the “basso ostinato” near the beginning of Dmitri Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 1 (3rd movement). It is transposed from the original key. In this recording the piano plays A B E A Bb F E C G F D Fmin7+imp. C while the guitar simultaneously plays A E A F E C G F. Almost all of R/S is improvisation stemming from the two themes or variations thereof. "

Thanks for reading.
Band: Forms
Genre: Everything from modern classical to sludge metal.
I would like just the name, in a typeface/simple font with maybe some mathematical type stuff? not formulas and things but the letters are connected by angles etc
band is here: www.myspace.com/freshforms

thanks!

i dont really know most of that stuff

Gibson les paul standard, black
'94 American strat repainted, sky blue with black rising sun symbol in bottom corner
Peavy jsx combo
whammy pedal

6/10
(pictures speak louder than words)

The amp is a Sunn Solaris, which is, stupidly, a combo. It is a bitch to move. Like wow.
The guitar is a 1970's Washburn eagle. Yes, I've always had it.
The MXR likes picks, honesty, and gin&tonics. The DD-7 enjoys solitude, reading, and long talks about the meaning of life.
The gear took about two years to gradually morph into the monolithic riff-beast that it is today.

Hey Fatso....do you feel like doing another pedal board bake off?

at least i thought that was you

Yeah, it was me, but I don't spend that much time on forums anymore so I probably won't do it. I'm surprised you remember though!
Hey all, check it out.

Just got a nano small stone to add to my hazarai

I really miss my little big muff, so I'm looking around to get a new muff.
I think I'm gonna go with a clone though, something modeled after a ram's head or other type of muff, what do you guys think?

I'm not sure if it's still up, but check the spam thread for nitefly's Rams Head muff. It looks amazing
I don't really recommend the Windsor, unless you're in a Judas Priest cover band.
For your price range, try looking around for a used Fender, something like a SF Bassman head or a Twin Reverb.
Get the halfstack, since it's mini you'll get tons of options regarding cabinet build, speaker choices, cabinet size and so on.

And to those two fighting about which is better between a combo and a halfstack, please stop being so drearily and desperately "UG". To each his own, alright? They are each better for different things. I mostly think that people that fight for the benefits of the combo are just a little butt-hurt that they don't have a halfstack and hate that it represents all their failed attempts at being a rockstar, or just hate seeing people that are trying to look cool. To the people fighting against the combos, they're just super macho and stoked that they have an amp as tall as they are.

What it really comes down to is that both of you haven't played enough amps or done enough research to really know what you're talking about.

I have a friend that has bought about 8 blackface bandmasters in the last 2 years. All under $500, he just fixes any minor issues and hordes them. Only going to increase in value as time goes by.

truth. If you want investment amps, vintage Fenders are where it's at.

true
even 6.4 is useless so 23?
wish they could of made the loop time like a minute?
eh 40 seconds is enough

Yeah man, 40 seconds is plenty.
Quote by kool98769
Isnt that the delay time, and not the loop time?
I remember reading "a maximum of 23 seconds of delay time".
i could be wrong though.

On loopers-delight.org, I believe there is some witchcraft and trickery afoot that can afford your DD-20 46 seconds of loop time, but, as is, stock, the maximum loop time and delay time is twenty three seconds.
Quote by acdclandon
wait you had a dd-20 and you got rid of it for a dd-7?
thats a little crazy?
how was that 23 seconds
oh god that would be insane lol
haha never seen someone so attracted to the amp
yeah thats why i chose it instead of a 800, the cleans
and the two channel thing, the reverb thing, the effects loop thing..
lets just say its been a long amp search

Well, I personally wouldn't buy it unless I already had my perfect amp, but that's a long story .
And yeah, the DD-7 sounds a little bit better than the DD-20, has 40 seconds of loop time as compared the the DD-20's maximum of 23, is half the size, does away with all the unnecessary features I never touched on the DD-20...
Quote by acdclandon
well i know but i figure it would be nice just to mess around with
a.k.a. play a chord, start having a conversation with somebody when it starts randomly popping on you lol
idk it would just be insane lets put it that way
yeah that would be awesome, but after i get the 900 i'll probably replace the dd-3 with the dd-7
how were the cleans
od?
lmao at that one man
course idk how your dick falling off could ever be a good thing..

The distortion is...well, it's JCM 900 distortion.
boner.
The cleans are great, I mean, they're not '69 original Tweed Bassman with NOS caps good, but they're good. and yeah, I used to do that chord thing but with the 23 seconds on my DD-20.
Quote by acdclandon
eh sorts there eq's are unbelievably unresponsive though
i mean at least if that worked better you could tweak it, but i swear bass 0-10 theres almost no difference lol
yeah i like the modulate and analogs modes too plus i mean c'mon 6.4 seconds?
that must be awesome lol
and yeah the 900 seems like a great fit for me
have you tried one?
and yes i am quite fond of my dd-3
i think i'll just save my money up, and if i really feel like it take some money out of the amp fund for it lol

dude...6.4 seconds is absolutely useless.
But it sounds like you'd be happy with a JCM 900 and a DD-3.
And yeah, I have tried one, my dick fell off and my ears started to bleed.
In a good way.
hey man, MGs aren't half bad if you know how to EQ them properly. But unless you rely heavily on delay as I do, I would spring for a new amp. Especially if you need amp distortion. I don't even have any distortion available to me right now, I traded my Crunchbox for this DD-7 (best trade ever, I tell ya'!).
But really, it comes down to this:
Amazing digital delay + 40 s looper + 100% wet reverse + great analog sim
OR
(I see you're looking at a JCM 900) CRUSHING OVERDRIVE!!!!11!
Those amps are great, really, and so is the DD-3. So it's up to you.
Distortion - MXR Distortion III or Ibanez TS7 ($50)
Delay - Boss DD-3 ($80)
Phaser - MXR Phase 90 (make sure to do the R28, C11 and C12 mods on it) ($60)
Volume pedal - Bespeco Stereo volume ($20)
These are the used prices, too.
edit: just saw your poll. I'd actually advise you to stay away from most of those pedals man
Quote by acdclandon
thanks so much man i know i have wanted some clips
do you think its worth it for me sell my dd-3 and buy it?
i really like the modes on it from what i can tell

DO IT.
It's seriously so worth it, man.
yeah man. it's alot different.
It's basically this: (dd20/2) - (presets + useless modes + lcd screen) = dd7
It has 40 seconds of loop time, which is almost double the DD-20s 23 seconds and a flipping huge plus on the DD-6's. It has no warp or twist modes. It has a very good analog sim, a great modulation mode, a reverse mode capable of 100% wet and it's better sounding, too. the tap-tempo/exp. out is a huge bonus as well.
The DD-6, when compared to the DD-7, or even the DD-20, or even the DD-3...well, it sucks. There's really not one redeeming, quirky, good feature that can't be found in any of these three units, and if it can, then these three improve upon it two chabillion-fold.
Thanks for calling my videos fun
