does anyone have the tab for it? or the time to tab it out :P?
cheers
i saw them over at the roundhouse in sydney... they were amazing live... probably the tightest band i've seen live....
stab yourself in the thigh... but don't let it bleed too much cos then you'll pass out...
dude even zakk wylde says paco de lucia has the **** of doom... need say no more....
no he uses his selector AS a kill switch.... i hate to admit, but i saw an episode of TRL, and he demonstrated it there....

edit: wow, so many replies so fast...
make sure your finger movements feel natural... this is all down to practice imo.. keep practicing a phrase slowly until you feel you've always done it, and only then speed it up... and don't fret the notes too hard... past the 12th fret, its much easier to fret notes (i think someone already mentioned this one)...
pretty much anything by dethklok... i'd get the main title phrase in a song, but thats about it...
this is what i do: have the song playing in the background, get my guitar and play every note on the top string from the first fret to the 12th... i try to find the note that best matches the song.. if i cant find it on the top string, i move down (although i mean, technically you're not really doing much except changing the octave)... the note that best suits it, is most likely the key... note i said most likely.. occasionally it doesn't work out, and i'd have to keep listening to the song to figure it out...
dairy products... they help... sorta... they may make you puke more... but at least you'll feel better after that....
i got pwned..lol...
so i guess the edge III isn't good enough for him...
i agree, a metronome is your best bet... additionally, try exerting the same amount of force going up as you do going down... i like visualising my hand as a block of wood holding a pick and someone on the side raises and drops it, while i sweep.. it tends to make my sweeps quite even when i think that way...
a mate of mine just got it... its a REALLy sweet guitar... the body reminded me a lot of my explorer, in terms of the weight especially the way the neck dives... the neck is awesome, and out of the factory, the action is insanely fast.. the chameleon paint finish is probably the best looking paint job i've ever seen.. the edge III is not as much of a draw back as people say.. i messed about with random whammy dives and raises with no change in tuning at all... think of it this way: if the edge III sucked so bad, would Muhammed Suicmez really bother using it?

The little weird sound in COCD is a combination of flanger and tapping the pick on the strings between the pickups.

+1
i also think all he does is pretty much mute the strings and move his hand up the fretboard to get the pitch higher
practice scit scat wah by racer x
that one is really good practice... then try move onto pretty much any solo by symphony x... michael romeo's string skips are what you want to nail.. trust me...
i think i mentioned something about blatant plagiarism already... but in his defence, i'm sure parts of it was original...
i think the absolute best part (s) are the percussions... particularly like the chimes(?) somewhere around bar 6...
i dug the acoustic intro... from then on, it sounded really familiar, like i'd heard the riffs somewhere but just couldn't place it... until verse 3, which really got me headbanging... liked verse 4 (nice melodic rifffs), but verse 5 could use some work..
the instrumental interlude really sounds like a dream theater rip off, perhaps because they've done a lot of stuff similar to it, but i'd recommend you change it unless you want to be branded a dt rip off...
nice pull off verse... from then on, till the next instrumental, nothing really captured me... the instrumental interlude started off well, till about bar 193 where things got a little random... very dt-esque sawtooth thingy... i liked that bit...
pretty boring from then on... the guitars during the keyboard solo is the biggest dream theater rip off i've ever heard... blatant plagiarism... nice guitar solos though... guitar solo 2 was prolly my favourite part of the song... outro need some work
sry if it seems a little disconnected.. i was writing it down while listening, and i'm a bit lazy to proof read..lol...
i really liked track 1... i think the addition of track 2 makes it a bit confusing.. its like you can't really concentrate on the melodies, which make it a little bit difficult to listen to... i really enjoyed it when i played it with track 2 muted...
it was pretty great.. my favourite parts were actually some of the drum grooves.. it really made me enjoy the guitar parts more... the pre-solo was probably my favourite section... nice one, man
i think the lead sawtooth was a bit too jarring... but otherwise it was a really cool song... nice solo: simple but catchy...
STOP PLAYING WITH MUSHROOMS!
awesome dude...
its not too bad... the intro bit was pretty good, and i was looking forward to this insane explosion, but i was disappointed... all the riffs up to about the acoustic bit (which was awesome by the way) seemed really generic... i also though the solo was a little boring...
i'd say it has potential but need a lot more work dude...
5/10
the beginning was friggin amazing dude... however, from bar 39 onwards it really felt like a different song... didn't flow as well as the beginning... can't wait to see more of your work..

i'd write more, but i need to go poop now...
i loved it man... great use of changing time signatures... my favourite part was the drums at the start of the verse... it fit in really well and gave the song a real groovy and chunky feel, even though it was with an acoustic.. can't wait to hear the completed song...
i really liked the verse and the chorus was fine imo.. however, i didnt like how the chorus progressed into the break, and the first few bars of the break...
the break got good at bar 39, but the jump to the verse where it suddenly sped up, didn't seem natural...
likewise for the second break... the progression into the break did not fit in very well... however the solo did sort of make up for it... in the solo though, the sweep at bar 82 seemed a bit out of place.. i'd recommend building up to it, or ending with it... liked the ending of the solo (bars 86-87)
i'd also recommend the rallentando at the end over more bars to make it seem a little more natural...
otherwise it was awesome...
good job man..

this could be some backing music for a game, like WoW or guildwars

i could totally see myself playing a strategy game for this... awesome dude
its amazing man, hence why i'll try critique it in full ...

i loved the acoustic intro.. it was insanely good... i loved the harmonizations of the guitars.. i loved bars 19 and 20 where each of the guitars are playing something completely different but made it fit in so well together...
the electric bit starting at bar 49 was awesome.. loved the groove..
solo B1 was really good... i think it would have been better if the harmony had started at bar 69 instead of 76..
the next acoustic interlude was really good.. i did think it went on for a bit too long though.. i'd suggest adding an acoustic melody line, in which case you could even lengthen the section a bit without it seeming too long... on that note, i did think the distorted bit was a really good idea... it reminded me a lot opeth...
the next heavy bit was really good... very neo-classical(ish)... would love to hear the bass once its done..
i think that section before where it becomes really heavy and chuggy (bars 182 and 183) did not really fit in, in the sense that it made the chuggy bit feel out of place in the song.. i think you should change that a bit, so that it leads into the heavy bit better... i also think that chuggy bit went on for a little too long before the harmonization came in...
the final acoustic bit was REALLY good... i really dug that...
would love to see the completed/extended version...
i had catch 33 on repeat when i slept last night... i CANNOT get that beginning riff off autonomy lost out of my head... probably their best album imo.. the only album that can even compare is fredrik thordendal's special defects' 'sol niger within'... that is insanely good...

if you're looking at that one, then i'd say the first position would be like a Bm with the little finger off (can't remember the exact name of the chord... bminor diminished something i'm supposing) followed by that 10-12-14 lick where you really have to fret only those notes....
that was for the intro... the verse is pretty much all octaves and power chords...
the fingers on my left hand don't feel anything different... they start cramping a little if a lot of string skips are involved though.... my right forearm does start to burn after a while...
i voted for heavy metal, only because there was no progressive metal on the list... i honestly think progressive metal should be on the poll seeing as it is gaining more popularity..
james labrie's solo stuff.. i think it should be listed as a band, seeing as how awesome it was...
magnitude 9
nightingale
outworld
ride the sky
section A
suspyre
vanishing point
engine (fates warning side project)
dreamscape
dominici (how can one forget)
cacophony
nevermore (i really think its prog(y) )
division by zero

i hope i didn't repeat any bands.. i only looked at the main list on page 1... hope that one is up to date...lol
it was pretty darn awesome, man...
the intro had a great groove... really enticed me into listening to the rest of the song... loved the time signature changes in the verses...
i would say the quick verse was one of my favourite parts of the song... loved the technicality...
the thing that competely did it for me though was the piano bit.. i'd recommend lengthening that and shortening the chuggy thing at the end.. that was a bit too long in my opinion..
definitely ashes as best album... as for songs, top would be the faded line and hourglass coming in close second...
and should this be in the hardcore forum?
what like hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy?
^ exactly... do you surf for stuff like this? lol...
dammit i keep missing stuff like this....
i don't think it should be an offense unless you pay like for how much you download instead of a one off per month thing....
they're both the same... one's new and the other isn't.. i think...lol
its a problem at the nut i reckon... my opinion at least...
