I just feel like pitching in my two cents on here...

I used to have a range of the D above the bass C to the E above middle C. Kind of a not-quite-bass but really crappy baritone. Then I fell off a ladder and had my adam's apple knocked hard on a rung. I couldn't go above the A under middle C for a while.
That was last year. Now I'm up to the Eb above middle C and working my range back up. The interesting part is I can now go to the G below the bass C. Not from the injury, but from practice. However, C is where it stops being particularly musical. I did have to sing a B in choir though.
Well I'm pretty sure the b is bend. That's usually what it stands for, but I have never seen the r before.
