I find the toneport to be awesome and definitely worth the money. I use it with cool edit pro for band recordings and demos, and I'm able to get a really high quality sound.

All the songs there are recorded using the toneport and cool edit pro, so it can give you an idea of the sound you can get from it.

The Seventh Dynamic was hard to get into for me. I dont really know why, i think its how the first second is kinda fast and then it levels out. It was pretty well tied-in later on in the song which suprised me but it still didn't rub me too well. Also the vocals seemed rather half-hearted and it didn't offer much. But overall it was a pretty good song, but it sounds to me like more of a filler than a hit. But i will comment that towards the end, it got better. In fact it got a lot better, so now your challenge is to keep the audience entertained till the end...

Beauty From Above actually got me right away. The first few seconds really hooked me onto it, and the voice (although still rather lazy) did fit the bill this time so, that worked out i suppose. The guitar riff is really calming and i enojyed it a lot. So far its my favorite. There isn't really anything i could say to help you improve it. I really really enjoyed it.

The last two didn't really "tickle my fancy" so to speak so i dont know really. But then somehow the page refused to load and then the music player wouldn't load so i couldn't really give them a good listen.

We share a lot of the same influences so I was very pleased with what i heard. It has a very good sound to it all and I did enjoy it. The vocals though are the only thing i can think of that need any work. The lazy sort of droning style works sometimes, but not all the time. Ever hear of The Crimea? Reminds me a bit of them for some reason...

But pretty damn good. 9/10

Ok this'll be the third time I've attempted to respond to your post after my comp crashing the previous two times.

Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed crit, it's really appreciated.

I think you must be the first person to ever say that our singer has a "lazy" vocal style, but I do see where you're coming from. I think it may because he's a blues singer at heart and I've been trying to push him in to getting a bit more grit and emotion in his vocals. It's a bit of a long process but we'll get there eventually.

Beauty From Above is one of my favourites too, as I'm really in to quiet songs erupting in to distortion. It's even better live, as we extend the middle solo section and it goes from a loud dual solo to a quiet breakdown based on the verse riff and then crashes back in to the distorted chorus.

The other two are actually two of our fan favourites. I'm pretty proud of the guitar work on Disintegrate and the kids seem to like the "catchy" chorus of Coma.

I'd be more than happy to crit some of your own work if you have any.

All the best.

i thought that was good, i added my band to your myspace.

Thanks, I've added you back. Any music going to be on there soon?

Okay so I'm here promoting my band Senescence. We're a five piece situated in London, England that produce alternative rock with lyrics that do have an important meaning. There's a hunger to speak our minds on issues and life in general, as it is so important.

Well that's the general kind of blurb, I'd love if you could check out our band's music on myspace and then give us advice, comments and just generally tell us what you think of the music. I suppose this is particularly important as if people like it and could support us I'd put more effort in to moving it forward in a more serious direction.

All the music is self produced and recorded by the way, it's all very DIY.

So thanks for taking your time to look at this.

All the best.

You probably want something using KT88 valves.
Soma by Smashing Pumpkins. That solo is Godly.
Billy Corgan is left handed yet plays a right handed guitar. It's probably better to do that as you also have a larger range of guitars available to buy due to there being far more right handed guitars than left.
I've no problem with people smoking as it's their own money they are wasting and their own life they are shortening.

Although I do admit I do prefer it if smokers are courteous and don't blow smoke in my face.
Is that £20 including postage?
If you're shopping in the £400-£500 mark for a guitar I'd definitely check out a Schecter. Still if you really want an epiphone les paul go on ebay, you can get a standard for around the £200-250 mark.
To be honest my sufcaster has 24 frets, yet still has probably the best neck pick-up tone I've ever had. It all depends on the guitar really.
Well if you class some of the Pumpkins stuff as heavy Billy Corgan used single coils on that.
Okay so I only just found out about this band, specifically the "Forever Changes" album last night. BBC3 had "Love with Arthur Lee" performing the whole of the Forever Changes album live at Glastonbury in 2003 with a full orchestra and brass section. It was absolutely amazing. One of those moments where you discover such great music through chance (it was my dad that put it on) that you'd probably not have discovered.

So I was wondering who else knows/likes Love and what do they think of "Forever Changes"?

Quit your whining bitch, Bellamy is a great guitarist and very inspired and talented musician. He also happened to be doing the right thing at the right time in the right place, and thus he's now a famous musician.

The funny thing is that he can actually shred. But the difference is he has this thing that shredders lack called taste.
I though the whole point of that wire was to stop the problem that's currently occuring for him...
The translucent blue les paul is beautiful.
Well Kurt himself used a Seymour Duncan sh-4 JB, if I remember correctly. If that helps at all.
You can probably get a decent USA Standard Tele off of eBay. In fact all teles on eBay have been going for criminally low prices recently, well in your price range.
I'd recommend the Schecter Corsair, pretty nice guitar. Of course an Epiphone Dot is pretty good too, but I'd definitely recommend immediately upgrading the pick ups with them though. Oh and it doesn't have a bigsby if that floats your boat.

its used but its silver and oh yea its duncan designed whats the difference if you dont mind me askin

Cheaper versions of Seymour Duncans, not the "real deal". Basically not as good as the *proper* Seymour Duncans.

^ You are my new favourite person on here....All I'm missing is Machina, have all the rest of the albums (including Machina II) but can't find a lot of the b sides/unreleased stuff...where'd you get all that?

You can legally download a load of the b-side stuff from msn music I believe. There used to be a great site that had tons of smashing pumpkins rarities but that's shut down now sadly.
Smashing Pumpkins are my favourite band of all time. Plus my favourite song has to be Soma, it's utterly epic.

What does everyone one think of Machina? and also Machina II if you've heard tracks from it...

In my opinion if they had made one album from the best tracks of Machina I and II it'd be one quality album. I think I might make an "ultimate Machina" playlist some time.
Haha seeing as the vast majority of Scientologists believe in God that's a stupid remark. There's a difference between believing in science and being a scientologist. I doubt there are even any scientologists on UG anyways.
Guns 'n' Roses - My Michelle
Let's exhibit some great rap lyrics then:

Public Enemy - Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos:

I got a letter from the government
The other day
I opened and read it
It said they were suckers
They wanted me for their army or whatever
Picture me given' a damn - I said never
Here is a land that never gave a damn
About a brother like me and myself
Because they never did
I wasn't wit' it, but just that very minute...
It occured to me
The suckers had authority
Cold sweatin' as I dwell in my cell
How long has it been?
They got me sittin' in the state pen
I gotta get out - but that thought was thought before
I contemplated a plan on the cell floor
I'm not a fugitive on the run
But a brother like me begun - to be another one
Public enemy servin' time - they drew the line y'all
To criticize me some crime - never the less
They could not understand that I'm a Black man
And I could never be a veteran
On the strength, the situation's unreal
I got a raw deal, so I'm goin' for the steel

They got me rottin' in the time that I'm servin'
Tellin' you what happened the same time they're throwin'
4 of us packed in a cell like slaves - oh well
The same mother****er got us livin' is his hell
You have to realize - what its a form of slavery
Organized under a swarm of devils
Straight up - word'em up on the level
The reasons are several, most of them federal
Here is my plan anyway and I say
I got gusto, but only some I can trust - yo
Some do a bid from 1 to 10
And I never did, and plus I never been
I'm on a tier where no tears should ever fall
Cell block and locked - I never clock it y'all
'Cause time and time again time
They got me servin' to those and to them
I'm not a citizen
But ever when I catch a C-O
Sleepin' on the job - my plan is on go-ahead
On the strength, I'ma tell you the deal
I got nothin' to lose
'Cause I'm goin' for the steel

You know I caught a C-O
Fallin' asleep on death row
I grabbed his gun - then he did what I said so
And everyman's got served
Along with the time they served
Decency was deserved
To understand my demands
I gave a warnin' - I wanted the governor, y'all
And plus the warden to know
That I was innocent -
Because I'm militant
Posing a threat, you bet it's ****in' up the government
My plan said I had to get out and break north
Just like with Oliver's neck
I had to get off - my boys had the feds in check
They couldn't do nuthin'
We had a force to instigate a prison riot
This is what it takes for peace
So I just took the piece
Black for Black inside time to cut the leash
Freedom to get out - to the ghetto - no sell out
6 C-Os we got we ought to put their head out
But I'll give 'em a chance, cause I'm civilized
As for the rest of the world, they can't realize
A cell is hell - I'm a rebel so I rebel
Between bars, got me thinkin' like an animal
Got a woman C-O to call me a copter
She tried to get away, and I popped her
Twice, right
Now who wanna get nice?
I had 6 C-Os, now it's 5 to go
And I'm serious - call me delirious
But I'm still a captive
I gotta rap this
Time to break as time grows intense
I got the steel in my right hand
Now I'm lookin' for the fence

I ventured into the courtyard
Followed by 52 brothers
Bruised, battered, and scarred but hard
Goin' out with a bang
Ready to bang out
But power from the sky
And from the tower shots rang out
A high number of dose - yes
And some came close
Figure I trigger my steel
Stand and hold my post
This is what I mean - an anti-****** machine
If I come out alive and then they won't - come clean
And then I threw up my steel bullets - flew up
Blew up, who shot...
What, who, the bazooka was who
And to my rescue, it was the S1Ws
Secured my getaway, so I just gotaway
The joint broke, from the black smoke
Then they saw it was rougher thatn the average bluffer
'Cause the steel was black, the attitude exact
Now the chase is on tellin' you to c'mon
53 brothers on the run, and we are gone
Omar Rodriguez Lopez and Jim Ward as they pretty much never play the same thing at the same time, two very different players yet it works fantastically.
Mine's just a pretty basic home computer set-up:

So I run my guitars through a line 6 tone port or mic up my amp using an old skool shure dynamic mic ( ) through the tone port. It gives a great tone for the money.

Then it goes to the Line 6 gearbox which is where I can mess around with fx, eq, amp simulation etc.

From that it goes to the old skool, yet highly useable Cool Edit Pro 2. I monitor using the sony headphones you can see in the first picture.
Check out that pointing action:

And a pic from when I had much longer hair:

Jeff Buckley is immensely underrated as people always seem to concentrate on his amazing voice when talking about him.

Also a guitarist called Bernard Butler I find to be very underrated, seeing as most people outside of the UK would probably know off him. Highly inventive lead guitar player with beautiful melodic playing.

Add Mick Ronson as well.
Well the first "proper" gig my band had (outside of school Variety Nights) was at a rented Snooker Hall supporting a band we're friends of. So we're confident, we've got a good set list worked out and we're tight as a band.

However things start going wrong even before we started the gig. The day before the gig our singer gets really ill and does cannot play with us, so it's left with me to do singing. I also have to improvise all the lyrics while playing lead guitar as our singer hadn't got round to doing the lyrics yet.

Anyway with all this we go on. The set-up and sound check went really well, the sound levels are sweet and we warmed up with a great cover of "The Boys Are Back In Town". We start the set with a big driving rock song. I do a big jump at the beginning, land perfectly it's all good, the crowd are really into it. However I realise half way through the song my guitar has stopped making any sound. I write it off as a dodgy patch lead which is connected to my ProCo Rat and just plug straight into my multi-fx. We finish playing that song. The guitar is still making no sound at all. I look down at my guitar when I realise that the jack socket has been ripped straight out of the guitar with the jack lead still attached to it. So I spent the next 5 minutes speaking over the mic going "Does anyone have a guitar? Can I borrow someone's guitar please?"

Thankfully get to borrow a guitar and finish off the set with no other flaws. A bit pissed off with the fact I ****ed up my jack socket but hey it's easily fixed. Continue to watch the other bands and then at the end when helping pack up I realise someone's stolen my ProCo Rat...

All in all a very eventful first gig experience. But still good nonetheless.
Also Roger Taylor from Queen sings and plays drums at the same time.
I'm already building my own custom guitar. It's pretty good fun and at the end of it it should be pretty sweet.

i have the new romance and don't like it all that much.

To be honest I don't think it's *that* great either. I think the problem is there are 3 or 4 really good songs on there while the rest is pretty average. But I think the new album (Elan Vital) definitely makes up for that.
So I just got their latest album yesterday and I must say it is pretty good. I'm not sure what kind of response this thread will get as they're pretty much unknown, well at least here in England. I personally think they're a pretty underrated band to be honest.

first of all although the muslim religion is more extreme than the jewish religion i dont want it to look like im trying to say that muslims are crazy satan worshippers and jews are saints

You can. The bibe story is that the one brother (the father of judiasm) bought the birth right from the other brother (the father of Islam. And yes it was bought, he did not recieve the natural birth right. This is because Abraham was promised a child that would be the father of the nation (israel) so to speak. His wife was old and couldnt bear children. So he had the child with his slave having Ishmal the father or islam. So being the first born he would get the birth right. Later by a miracale his real wife had The "promised child."

sorry for the whole sunday school class

Back to current day, these two religions are fighting over the birth right (israel). I find this interesting because this is one of the oldest fights in history and one of the fiercest. Also they believe in many of the same things in different ways.

I don't think it's 100% right to pin all of the fighting in Israel just on the story. Firstly not all Palestinians are actually Muslim, there are a number of Christian Palestians. Also the way Palestine was taken from them would piss off most people don't you think? Imagine (extreme case of course) a foreign power taking over your country and segregating your people. Surely you'd try and fight back right?

But that's moving more into the relms of politics rather than religion so I'll end it there.
