Over the Hills and Far Away - Led Zeppelin one of my favorites to play
Why Georgia - John Mayer

I was listening to some Tenacious D and when you think about it, they actually make a couple of acoustics sound very complex. They have some fun songs.
Random songs seem to be being taken down. I downloaded a bunch of guitar pro Rage Against songs but only "killing in the name of" was banned... bunch of bs
China's kind of a mixed bag. On the one hand they divert and dam huge rivers and rape the land but on the other hand they are investing more money in renewable energy than anyone else... So hopefully they get their act together sometime, its not too late for them.

Anyways, I hope to make my profession out of the Environmental Sciences so I guess I care... but I'm no hippy just a scientist.
My dad gave me a 20 gauge bolt action shotgun, that thing was tough to shoot quickly I'll tell you what. But it's at my parents house. But probably half of UG is from Europe and the majority are probably too young to own a gun anyways...
Thanks, sounds like a good investment and its black! win win
Hey does anyone know if Fender or some other reputable parts maker has a black tremolo bridge for a Strat? There are a few on ebay but for 20 bucks I doubt they're worth even mentioning here.

Thanks

I haven't heard anyone talk about how great the Wolverines are. It's common knowledge that ND is an average at best team.

I think it's about time we got over Appalachian State. Wasn't that near 5 years ago now? Completely different class of students. Completely.

Obviously you don't live in MI because UofM fans can't shut up.

And if you don't recall ND was ranked as high as 16, and many people think they could come back and be great. Sure it's only been two weeks. So we'll see how they handle themselves this weekend.

And I was referring to the past two years when UofM started 5-0 and 4-0.

In what way was it a mockery?

It was a mockery because the only reason these two teams got prime time national television is because of who they are.

This game could have been played by any two crappy teams anywhere in the world and no one would have seen it. But because its UofM and ND they get all the hype and money. And now everyone is talking about how great the game was, but nobody is talking about how terribly either team played. And I have to hear constantly from all the Walverines about how great they are.

Such short memories they have.

Dat Michigan game

MSU dominated against FAU, that makes me happy since they looked rather rusty against Youngstown St. I heard that the heat in that first game was really affecting the players. But this makes me feel more comfortable for the rest of the season, although I would like to see them get a decisive win over a bigger school now.

GVSU lost to Hillsdale by a FG with 9 sec to go

MSU is going to dominate ND this weekend. Even if ND's offense didn't turn over the ball so much and suck in general, the defense couldn't do anything against MSU.

Not to mention that the way Brian Kelly rips into his players, they're not going to be pumped up as much as many 0-2 teams would be to get a win. There'll be a mutiny soon.

And anyone who thinks the ND UofM game was good. Well it was entertaining, I'll give them that. But it was a mockery of NCAA football. The best part was when the ND quarterback threw the ball, but it stayed in one place! hahahaha
It happens. Its not something you can brush off as placebo and staging.

There are National Geographic documentaries about it. It happens quite a bit and many doctors are confounded by it.

There was a guy at my church who had cancer and some people at church prayed and laid hands on him the night before his surgery. The next day the doctors cut into him and the cancer is almost completely gone.

But it is also true that modern science and medicine is a blessing in itself. So I would never choose prayer over a doctor (some family did that and their kid died in Wisconsin I think?)
Take two...

Basically I finished soldering a Noisy Cricket amp and everything and plug in my guitar and nothing. It makes a popping sound when I turn on the amp, the light comes on, etc. I can even hear a tiny amount of hum and it changes when I move the pickup selector switch. But no sound from the guitar...

But the important thing to know is, when I plug in my computer/mp3 the amp plays that perfectly... whats up with that?

So I bought a multimeter. And now what?

I've experimented a bit. Its got a little sound thing that when the circuit is closed the multimeter makes a noise. So I started from the input jack to the speaker and it worked!

So what else can I do to check and see why nothing comes out of my speaker? I've read to use DC volts to check various parts? Where do I start?

Thanks
Basically I've got a "finished" Noisy Cricket

Here's a link to my last thread about it if you want to get caught up...

Well this morning I even tried another guitar and cable and still nothing from the speaker but hum.

I can't think of anything. I guess you have to ask why? Well the purpose of the amp is to amplify what comes from the guitar. So if it does that with a computer signal, but not the guitar then what is wrong? Right?

I think I'll go buy a multimeter...
Haha, this explains the distortion! I forgot I have a gain pot, so I turned down the gain and now its crystal clear!
Hmm, well so far I know it works since I can listen to music through it. Just need to get sound to come from my guitar.

Thanks so far
Oh yeah, sorry I didn't answer that part. I did use the MPF102 FET.

So I could just get a new one and swap them out and see if that makes a difference.
Some progress, I plugged my computer into the input and the speaker is playing music (not well).

The music plays, but is not very loud and is distorted. But so far so good I guess...
Thats a good idea, yeah I built the guitar and didn't know the pot was bad until after so I just left it for now. It works though.

I will try some different input devices.

I tried hooking up a smaller speaker to it too and its the same thing. Nothing...
I tried to make sure I didn't overheat any components when I was soldering. I used the LM386 chip.

I also used the Radio shack general purpose PCB and it was a pain trying to get all those wires in the tiny holes and soldering them. There are some solderings on the pcb that look really close to bridging, but its hard to tell.

I'll probably get a multimeter eventually if I can't figure this out with the basic troubleshooting methods.

Could it be that the speaker is not powered sufficiently? So there is not sound coming from it?

Another clue!
I have a very scratchy volume pot on my guitar... so I tried messing around with the volume and for a certain portion of the sweep of the pot I can hear the scratching in the speaker, but after the lower 25% of the sweep I cannot hear anything from the speaker anymore...

does that make sense?
http://www.beavisaudio.com/projects/NoisyCricket/

Here is the link to the project.

Basically, I have this thing all wired up and plugged in and when I turn it on the LED gives off light and the speaker makes a little popping sound (I have it wired to a speaker instead of an output jack).

If anyone who is familiar with the noisy cricket wiring or basic wiring troubleshooting could you please tell me why I cannot hear anything out of the speaker except the little snap when I flick the on switch?

I have rewired the grounding situation and double checked some connections. I don't have a multimeter so I cannot test the individual components, but that would probably be the next step right?

If I put my ear right next to the speaker (Jensen Mod 5/30 8 ohm) I can hear a little change in hum between pickup selections, but it is so quiet.

Any help would be appreciated.
You couldn't get a job on one.

They only hire people from Libya, Philippines, Indonesia, Somalia, etc. So basically they are multinational companies on ships from 3rd world countries so they cannot be traced easily. Then they hire multinational poor people who cannot communicate with each other and basically don't care how hard they have to work as long as they can send some money home for their family.

Its not easy, its not clean, its usually not legal or safe.

The world of international shipping, its a big ocean in a small world

Wow, this poll is really lopsided.

Only two choices dominating... apparently everyone here is good looking
I like everyone else have only heard stories about people who know people, etc.

So it's hard to say. But from what I've heard they are pretty freaky. But even if you google it you cannot find anything really scientific. So it is impossible really to know except from trying it for real and being open to what happens.

I see.

So no more farting?

But then we'll spontaneously combust (south park allusion)! Which do we choose? Spontaneous combustion or long term global warming!!!
You believe every letter and website you come across?

I'm listening to Fuzz Universe right now. Perfection
No way, you can get trannys from/ copies of classic amps for less than 200 cant you?

Here's a good example

Definatly possible, but the switching thing could get a bit complex. I'd stick with a simple cab, personnally.

.

Here

I googled it, now if you go to google books, you can preview the book.

Go to page 173, it shows you the plans.
I'd just make a multi purpose cab.

You could wire it up so you have a switch to go between series and parallel so you could have one with one impedance and one with another.

Or just have it wired up with a couple different input jacks, one goes to parallel wiring and one goes to series.

That way you can plug in any head to your one cab
No sounds come out of the speaker at all...
I should get a bread board.

Is the best way to check connection by using a multimeter?
Well actually, it was a dead battery... so now the LED comes on when I switch it on. But still no sound comes out...
I just "finished" finally wiring a noisy cricket amp with one of those radio shack generic PCB's, but it didn't work...

Here's the original plans
http://www.beavisaudio.com/projects/NoisyCricket/MarkII/NoisyCricketMarkII_RadioShack_Rev2.pdf

and here's what I think I did.
I didnt have a DC jack and I hooked it straight to a speaker so...

I dont know where I went wrong. How does one find that out?
Some of the low end PRS' are in the 600s...
I meant a black belt in one form particularly. Not many in America would pay for pay per view karate as opposed to high energy cage fighting, etc.

True MMA fighters are skilled in many fighting styles, but they've been doing many styles for many years as a job.

If you want to get something out of martial arts then pick one and focus on it.

Oh and I dont think there are any or very many Krav Maga schools.
