Looking for a female singer, interested in doing rock music, in genres of indie, alt, prog, and maybe some experimental. Would prefer smoother vocals, akin to Tegan and Sara, Cat Power, etc.

I play guitar (8 years as of this June), and am looking to start up a band and write a few albums. Have a concept album written, really interested in putting it to work with some music. Other instruments I play include the piano, violin, trombone, and saxophone.

Influences (of my own) include:
Radiohead
The Beatles, Wings
Animal Collective
The Police
The Flaming Lips
Blondie
Beck
Muse
Sam Roberts
Pink Floyd
SOOO much more..

Just really looking to form a band. I am willing to demonstrate talent on the instruments I play, and if interested, let's get something going

Again, please message. I'm really wanting to work on something soon!
Eh, I'm paranoid. I mean, its not that loud, but god damn it, I hate that noise!
Sooo.. I bought a Zune 120 off of craigslist. I don't know if it's normal or not, but I can hear the drive spin and make noises oh so slightly. Call me paranoid, but I don't know if this is normal.

I sold my PSP, didn't really use it, so I have cash laying around.
Should I sell my 120 and buy a brand new 120 (in store) or 80 (off ebay)?
Or should I just keep the 120 and understand that I'm tripping total balls.
Or even worse... sell it and buy an Apple product!

HEEELP! D:
Reported due to wrong thread!

Sorry bro, we can't help you here. Go post in the appropriate forum!
Haha, great idea, dude!
I really liked the rhyme scheme (I feel it's from something too, don't worry), and I liked the concept.

One thing I can really critique on is just increase the length and add a bridge/more verses (the structure seems odd, but it could be a personal choice) and it'll be a classic rock hit!

Cheers!

Edit: Battles for the win!
Just a little extra I've written up. Nothing completely serious yet, it just came to me.
Bonus points for guessing the one song referenced within!
C4C, as usual!

I shut the front door tonight,
She didn't feel the slightest breeze.
My face revelled in the moonlight,
Words smothering me like a disease.

I rolled down the window,
As the stars peered down me,
The splatter of her shadow,
Screamed like a howling banshee.

And every flower I can give you,
every love song I can write,
Could never quite get through
This lone and dire night.

This rain never seems to cease,
These tires never seem to stand still,
All I wanted is a feeling of peace,
But your lips are dressed to kill.

430 miles and 10 tanks of gas,
I've reached my place, safe and sound
Still, not a moment will pass
That I think of going the other way around.

And every flower I can give you,
every love song I can write,
Could never quite get through
This lone and dire night.

Distances ahead, across the universe,
Blink these lights, a shepherd's purse,
A destination that cannot be reached,
A boundary that cannot be breached,
And I wish nothing can change my world,
I've tried, and you threw it all away.

_______________________________________
ALTERNATE CHORUS:

It's as if everything I've done,
all the love I've given,
Cruelly and bitterly outdone,
As if all is gone, unforgiven.
Dude, that's great!
Bluesy and meaningful!
I really like the last stanza, it concludes the song really well.
Put it with a good blues rhythm and you have yourself a hit!
Here's a quick one I just thought of one night.

Take a poor boy from his home,
and feed him for one day.
Let him sit and marvel in
the world we have here today.

He'll tell you how he's never seen
so many lights and sounds,
And my friend, you can see,
the joy in his smile.

If we could all just give eachother,
that glimmer of hope and faith,
Believe in the world forever,
Believe in the world together.

Imagine feeding a dry land,
with grains of eternal nourishment.
Watching the people push past eachother,
Cheering with humble grace.

Try to make a difference in a land far way,
Leave all your troubles here,
Realize that yours may not be,
As difficult as your brothers.

If we could all just give eachother,
that glimmer of hope and faith,
Believe in the world forever,
Believe in the world together.

Take my hand and let us travel,
to the shore under the sun and sand,
Feel the waves against our feet,
And the love for our fellow man,
Our feelings for our equal blood,
Take a stand, take action,
Bring our world closer, forever.

If we could all just give eachother,
that glimmer of hope and faith,
Believe in the world forever,
Believe in the world together.
Here's two I've written lately.

First one, Inner You, written for my girlfriend who was feeling down lately. Can you guess the inspiration?

Oh Clarissa,
can't you see the new day?
Put the past, let it fly
away.

Oh my love,
you know you're beautiful,
no matter what you may think
be cheerful.

You're perfect, to me
You may not think so, hey.
Just set yourself free
Embrace the inner you.

Oh frightened one,
don't you ever give up to soon,
and throw away everything
you could have.

Oh, what can I say,
Clarissa, dear, you're perfect.
Look out, see the new day,
Don't fill your heart with neglect.

You're perfect, to me
You may not think so, oh
Just set yourself free
Embrace the inner you.

Next one, Our World, is just a newly found feeling of peace for our world. Please let me know how you like it as well!

Take a poor boy from his home,
and feed him for one day.
Let him sit and marvel in
the world we have here today.

He'll tell you how he's never seen
so many lights and sounds,
And my friend, you can see,
the joy in his smile.

If we could all just give eachother,
that glimmer of hope and faith,
Believe in the world forever,
Believe in the world together.

Imagine feeding a dry land,
with grains of eternal nourishment.
Watching the people push past eachother,
Cheering with humble grace.

Try to make a difference in a land far way,
Leave all your troubles here,
Realize that yours may not be,
As difficult as your brothers.

If we could all just give eachother,
that glimmer of hope and faith,
Believe in the world forever,
Believe in the world together.

Take my hand and let us travel,
to the shore under the sun and sand,
Feel the waves against our feet,
And the love for our fellow man,
Our feelings for our equal blood,
Take a stand, take action,
Bring our world closer, forever.

If we could all just give eachother,
that glimmer of hope and faith,
Believe in the world forever,
Believe in the world together.

Thanks guys.
Once again, great info sandy!
I really owe you one, that was quite informative.

I ask too many questions, buuut, since this is an attempt at a 60's still LP, does anybody know what technique to use? How did The Beatles or Rolling Stones manage to record, track by track, or all at once?
Thanks again for the info, sandyman!
I'll definitely try different methods to see how they sound like.

My final question, should I record into a digital/analog recorder, or into a USB interface and into my computer?

EDIT: Sorry, I just confused myself with youtube, haha. I notice that many bands record themselves playing all at once, but their sound is quite clear. How do they go about doing this, or do videos portray the reality differently?
I've recently bought some gear and set it up properly, now I just need some help.
I've written some songs, and to start, I'd like to record some acoustic songs. What I was wondering was, how do I set up everything?

For example, when singing with the guitar, do I sing and play into one condenser mic? Or do I set up separate mics for each, but wouldn't that clash with the other sounds?

Also, would recording one track at a time be better than recording everything at once? I'm planning on recording a full band soon, and we we're just wondering how.. should we all play together, or separately?

Thanks!
Thanks a lot for the info!
Seems like a decent mic to try, and if not good for vocals, a simple return.

Although this may sound silly, I'm looking to record a more vintage sounding album (think Beatles), so this should be just fine for vocals.

If there are any other condenser mics worth looking at, Id love to hear about them!
I'm trying to set up a simple home studio, and I'm looking for a decent sub-$150 mic to suit my vocal/acoustic needs.

Are there any ones that you could recommend?

How does this one sound?

It's a chromosome. It codes for a specific thing.

I have my major in genetics. It'll be cheating if I told you everything. Google, my man.
I lol'd at the puns.

The rest were gay LOL.
Maybe it's because of HERRRMMAANN RRIII..
Alas, I have nothing beneficial to add to this topic. Adios.
Wish granted, but anything you say next will be corrupted horribly.

I wish I was Thom Yorke.

lol 9800GT? why not get a ati 1gig 4870 or perhaps even a nvidia 295...... oh ok so budget wise your probably best off with a 8800GTX as A:its perfectly designed for that game and B: its not that expensive and yet its still well into last another good while territory as long as your not planning on crysis or anything.... hmmmm watch out though you motherboard probabley doesn't support pci-express 2.0 so the 8000 series in nvidia should help you there or ati equivalent... oh and be careful as i'm guessing your pc has just the right size power supply for the current components in the pc so you might need a new one of them aswell or just try to stay close to the current graphic cards electricty demands.... which will be hard

Because the guy isn't a ****ing computer enthusiast. He wants to play two games. A 9800GT will run anything on max just fine for a few years.
Get a console.
Or buy a 9800GT for like, $199 USD.
Is that a puppet or a real person?

If it's a real person then...
Chacarron, if it hasn't been posted yet.

Playing the first fret sounds completely normal. I think it's a nut problem.
Well, the string sounds dull when I'm not fretting a not. When I do fret, it sounds perfectly normal. This leads me to believe this a bridge/nut problem.
Yeah, Ernie Balls.

Side note: I bought this guitar used from a store a week ago. The strings did the same thing before and after I put on a new set.
Yesterday, I put on new strings.

It sounds like this when not plugged into the amp, and when it is.

It's a Fender Vintage 57 Hot Rod, if that matters.
The bottom three strings on my Strat (G, B, e) have a somewhat 'muted' sound to them, and aren't as loud or as sustain-filled as the other 3 strings.

What could be the problem?
I love dogs so much, and I feel they are the only animals that can truly feel sympathy and love for a human being.

My prayers are with your dog.
QUICK, IN THE TARDIS!

Been a fan since I was a wee boy, bout 5 years of age, I'd reckon.

David Tennant is great! I hate that they're replacing him with Matt Smith...

Dude, if I got drunk and ran over my own mother I'd castrate myself.

Alas, you said that was an 'exaggeration'.

I'm lost.

Do you really want to treat people like that?

Just stop whining.

Look how the roles have changed.

You're getting your ass trolled by everybody, and you resort to trolling yourself.

I think if anyone needs to finish their highschool education, it's you.
I mean, it's only 5 years, right?

EDIT: Back to source material. TS, get drunk and run over somebody. Then choose how badly you want to be punished.
