These are absolute awesome EQ's and with a midi and program you'll never have that volume jump again. Incredibly sensitive controls 0 hiss Sweet pedal perfect shape never outta my house but I sold my 5150iii and I'm gonna trade this for and Overdrive hit me up...

Here's how my board normally looks the mxr is only used for metal tones at lower bedroom volumes.
I played a friends DSL40c with a WGS V30 and jj tubes and loved it so much I sold my 5150iii 50w and bought a DSL 40c the 70/80 speaker isn't good I put in a WGS V30 about 5 min after I took it outta the box. V1 I put a sovtek 12ax7 wc V2-V4 gold JJ's I tried JJ EL34's and Svetlana EL34's but the stock tubes sounded better. The sovtek was a surprise in V1 I tried various tubes everywhere a nos Amprex bugleboy , nos Mullard, regular JJ's, ehx, tung sol, ei, sovtek 5751 and a Telefunkin 12at7. If you play clean or low to mid gain or use distortion pedals the 5751 sound awesome in V4 And speaking of pedals it takes pedals great (ehx soul food sounds awesome) It loves boost in front I use a EP booster and EQ and a TS....the effects loop is very good and quiet. The footswitch SUX I bought a lighted one for 30 bux off ebay reverb is OK at best but I use my Nova sys. It's a 2 channels amp with 4 different channel options plus a 20/40w switch it's super versatile just a no frills amp kinda aimed at the bedroom or studio guy for the dollars with a few easy DIY mods and it's a killer little amp. I havent missed my 5150iii 50w and the channel 1 to 2 Volume jump and those damn over sensitive fender volume pots for one second!!
Marshall DSL40c and a speaker upgrade... 20/40 watts and will cover everything you play.
Look into a EQ pedal... My TSL was real fuzzy sounding with WGS V30 and ET65 an EQ cleaned it up Alot!!!
A tube screamer and an EQ will get you going the right direction.

This.... Super sweet 4 custom programs and adds 0 hiss to your signal in front of you amp or in the loop...
Cool rails and the Gilmour mod...
Super D in the bridge... I've got the 36th annv paf in the neck and love it!!
The 5150iii it will go as heavy as you want and has a nice clean channel. A good tube in v5 (half of the clean channel) i have a mullard and in the phase I have a sovtek 12ax7lps it has less floor noise than the JJ.
TC elec Nova sys is awesome... And can be found fairly cheap used.

So an EQ pedal would actually be able to produce these lows that I need, not just limit the guitar frequencies to the range of bass that the cab already produces? (If you get what I mean)

Yes you can Boost the lows and cut the the higher freqs...
You can get good used deals on TC Nova sys...
Evh 5150iii combo you can turn down to 1 watt....
It will still keep you signal cleaner longer than a 12ax7.... It was a very common thing to do with the VJ's when using pedals....
I've seen quite a few Blackstar ht40's on CL.

wow really?
you mean.... replacing a 12ax7 by 12at7??

so at higher volumes the sound will still be clean? (at least cleaner than the 12ax7?)

And also, everyone, I was talk about clean gain, not overdrive...
the tubescreamer of course gives overdrive.
Don't really know how to put it, but, there should be a clean tone with higher gain...

oh well, after all that discussion, i think getting another amp is the way to go, haha
what's an inexpensive clean amp with enough headroom? say about 30W, 50W

Yep an at7 will give you more and better clean tone .
An Xotic EP booster... One of those pedals you'll keep on all the time. From a clean boost to tube screamer territory of gain without the compression. It would really help out the clean channel on your amp.
Yeah it will... Just like an au7 will do the same but with less volume. Take a valve jr and check the difference between an at vs ax....
A 12at7 is gonna give more clean headroom...
Put in a 12at7 for the clean headroom then you can mix in pedals.
I've owned both and there is not enuff difference to justify the price of the 808... Guess your paying for a cooler housing...
Hey man I've got a brand new footswitch I'd let you have for $80..... I had a TSL 602 footswitch died ordered a new one and a week later the whole up took a dump!!! It like brand new!!

I've got the same amp.... I've got the TC nova sys in the loop and it sounds great!!! Look at an Xotic EP booster it's sound great!! I've got an ISP decimator up front and the Nova has an great noise gate in the loop. Play around with some tubes I've got a Mullard in v5 1/2 of the clean channel really makes a huge difference in the clean channel. Also play around with the phase inverter tube also....
ISP decimator.... In the loop to kill hiss. Up front to kill feedback.
H.B.E. Compressor retro... Really sweet piece!!!
I do the Gilmour mod to all my Strats so maybe that's why I like the Hotrails. I have noiseless in the N/M. the neck and bridge together has massive bottom end...tight not boomy maybe just a good match of pickups...
I've had a couple SD hotrails and like them.
I'd get an LTD EC 1000 before a studio....
As mentioned above... 5153 50w. I really was unimpressed with the TSL!
