Flipper - Public Flipper Limited: Live 1980-1985 (1986)

All of these albums are highly influential and incredibly unique and deserve to be recognized as truly great works of art.
In terms of psychology, the best wrestlers are Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Mick Foley, and Raven.

Does that make me a nihilist?

As a nihilist myself, I have to say... maybe.
They have the best slogan of any band anywhere.
"Flipper suffered for their music... now it's your turn."

Sorry I kind of went off on you. I guess you were coming off a little condescending but I feel like an asshole now

It's cool.
I'm sorry for coming off as condescending. My goal was to introduce Flipper to people that aren't familiar with them; people that are just passing through this thread. It's also a convenient excuse to post links to Flipper videos. They're a band I feel passionate about. It's nice to know that more people are familiar them than previously believed.

Sacrifice
Artist: Flipper
Album: Gone Fishin'

Can you hear the war cry?
It's time to enlist
The people speak as one
The cattle, the crowd
Those too afraid to live
Demand a sacrifice
Demand a sacrifice
Demand a sacrifice

Can you hear them weezing?
Listen to them
Chanting their slogans
It's the grave diggers song
Demanding a sacrifice (alt: And they demand this one thing of your life)
They demand sacrifice
Demand a sacrifice

Can you see the fresh blood?
Steaming from the soil
As our fathers and brothers
Our patriots and lovers
Admire the military style
Praising God and state
So the people will remain as cattle
So the nation will survive
And they demand a sacrifice
They demand a sacrifice (alt: And they demand this one thing of your life)
Demand a sacrifice
Demand a sacrifice

Bob Kelly is gayer, but isn't fat anymore

I know he's lost weight but he'll always be fat Bob Kelly to me.
What the **** is wrong with fat Bob Kelly (it was his request). This is the second character Sam has played that's gay. Hmm.

Nirvana were influenced by The Melvins/The Pixies/Scream?

Not Black Flag/Bad Brains/Minor Threat. Meh. Semantics.

Nirvana was influenced by Black Flag, M.D.C., Flipper, Melvins, Black Sabbath, Pixies, Led Zeppelin, Butthole Surfers, and Scratch Acid.
The thing that sucks about being a Flipper fan is that it's hard to find people who know who Flipper is, let alone fellow fans. Oh yeah, and that whole Rick Rubin affair.
Does anyone have any info on Flipper's new album?

I was a fan of Nirvana and was reading a lot about them so I went checking the bands that influenced them: Bad Brains, Black Flag, Flipper, Minor Threat

I got into it the same way. Best thing that ever happened to me.
Flipper
Greg Ginn - Black Flag
Kurt Cobain - Nirvana
Tony Iommi - Black Sabbath
I forgot to about the 30 second samples on iTunes and Amazon, respecfully.
What a wonderful invention those are.

I just found Generic through a blog. Clearly I plan to buy it, hard copies are important to me. But I'd at least like to listen to it now. So the download is running.

I'm already a Butthole Surfers fan.

Flipper just finished recording a new album with Krist Noveselic (Nirvana) on bass. All they have to do now is find a distributor. I haven't been able to ascertain any other information. Be sure to check their Wikipedia and AllMusic pages.

There we go. This is a pleasant surprise and definitely an addition to be made to my library.

Flipper releases are hard to find. You can find their live album Blow'n Chunks on iTunes. Their debut album Generic (sometimes referred to as Generic Flipper) is available on Amazon through pepsistuff.com. I just finished downloading it track-by-track. I highly recommend it.

The Butthole Surfers entire catalog is also available on iTunes. Best Buy carries them as well.

Let's see here,
Danzig-Good but not punk

Death-Pure effluence and not punk

Deep Purple-zzzz and not punk

Thank You!
Metallica could definitely pull off a musical.
You know what would be really funny?
A musical based on the Butthole Surfers.

you're kidding me, right?

Queen, if it hasn't happened already.

And Co&Ca

I think that a Black Flag musical would be a really good character study.
Generic - Flipper
My War - Black Flag
Bleach - Nirvana
