Hey all!

So I've been slowly working on my right arm sleeve over the past 4-5 months and I've had a few set backs - mainly that the artist I was working with neglected to tell me that he was a black and white only artist until it came time for colour, and then proceeded to **** up the first colour session causing me to change artists - but it's finally starting to resemble what I wanted! The colouring is only about 45% done, and there is a bit of work that needs redoing by my new artist, but basically it's an evolution themed sleeve.

So far I've included a Mayan temple (and a few smaller Egyptian pyramids) and an atomic bomb to represent both sides of humanities great potential for creation and destruction, a Galapagos finch for obvious reasons, a Trilobite fossil, a whale and squid fighting to the death, and a swirling nebula that everything looks like it is coming out of to represent the big bang. I wanted this bottom half to be kind of centred around an ocean theme, since the oceans are such a huge part of the theory.

Let me know what you guys think! as I said it's not quite half finished in terms of colour but it's starting to look pretty cool I think!

Sorry about the poor quality, and hairy gorilla arms. My iphone is the only camera I have access to.

The top half is making way for a pack of raptors fighting a mammoth, with a comet streaking down in the background (kind of represents how if it wasn't for a stroke of luck - the comet killing the dinosaurs - mammals may never have come to rule the planet, and we might not be here! :P), a lava and stalagmite filled primordial earth scene, a double helix and a few other spacey things.

Sorry for the long post!
Hey all,

We've got a new song that just dropped on youtube, check it out!

Hey all,

We (Reflections of Ruin) are searching for a replacement as we have parted ways with our current drummer.

We're a 5 piece metalcore outfit from Perth who formed late in 2010, and have since released a 5 track EP, had international air play, supported many amazing bands such as All Shall Perish and Northlane and we are currently getting ready to record a second film clip, and begin our debut albums pre-production. Our influences are in the vein of bands like August Burns Red, As I Lay Dying, Veil of Maya, All Shall Perish etc.

You can hear our music on facebook or Bandcamp
If you are interested in becoming part of the family, you need to:

Have your own transport and license
Be able to jam AT LEAST once a week
Have a good set of equipment
Be willing to pitch in for band expenses
Be dedicated to the band; touring is on the horizon and this means spending a lot of time away from home.
Above all else you need to be a good drummer with creative input, and a sick dude to hang with.

If you think you've got what it takes hit us an e-mail at reflectruin@gmail.com

Looking forward to hearing from you! Cheers!

Also, you spelled "Aesthetics" wrong in your username.

More the hardcore part.

Yeah I know it's spelled wrong, Aestheticsofhate was taken unfortunately. I guess you're right though, it's more or less metalcore if you want to get technical.
Quote by blake1221
I highly doubt that.

This really should go in Promote Your Band.

You doubt that I'm in a metal band? I'm confused -_-
You're right I'm sorry for not providing.

TS, if you hypothetically posted something about a donkey show, would it be a girl with a guy donkey, or a guy with a girl donkey?

I'd depends what state the show is in.

If the lyrics in your sig are any indication of the sort of music you play, then no thank you.

Don't like Pink Floyd? Fair enough.

No it's actually metal/hardcore.

Its up up up, then down down, repeat. you pull of the first sequence on the high E then pick the only time you pull off on a 3 note arpeggio is the high string. and always start with an upstroke on the high E never down stroke it.

Never start by going down? I do that all the time during solos
Metalcore from Perth Australia. Got a track up from our upcoming demo. Check out Dystopian here: www.facebook.com/reflectruin

<3 you all
Hey dudes,

We just released a track of our upcoming self titled demo due 5th of August called "Dystopian". Check it out on Facebook: www.facebook.com/reflectruin and swing us a like while you're there!

Thank you so much everyone!
I don't know the "correct" way to sweep but when I do that pattern I always pick every note.

Having said that, it depends on the kind of sweep.

When it's constantly fast tempo sweeping during a hectic solo section I pick everything. When I'm doing a slower solo section and throwing in a 5 string sweep or something as a quick passing flutter, I'd employ the first technique you listed as it runs through smoother and has less bite.

Honestly if you're learning to sweep, I found it was easier to learn it whatever way I found easiest and then go back and learn the other way later. Sweeping is all about muscle memory and it just takes time to learn a different technique so just stick with what you find easier while you learn.
Thanks a lot man, I'll keep that in mind and shoot you an email if need be!

I've actually already had 4 emails so hopefully it all works out!
Thanks for the emails dudes! If anyone else is interested keep them coming <3
Hi all,

Firstly I'm not entirely sure wich forum this should be in so apologies if this is incorrect.

I'm in a deathcore/metalcore band called Reflections of Ruin. We are looking for someone to design a logo and album art and also someone to mix and master our 4 song demo.

The recordings are quite high quality and we are looking for someone who has referenceable mixing/mastering experience without having to bust our wallets too hard.

Contact us at reflectruin@gmail.com, or hit us up on facebook (facebook.com/reflectruin).

Cheers everyone!

Hey dudes,

We're working super hard to get our first EP together, and in the mean time really want to start playing shows, but apparently your friend count on facebook these days means more than you'd think..

We've had a few bands knock us back for supporting slots because we don't have enough supporters, siting proof as our facebook count.

SO! If you could take a few minutes to head over to http://www.facebook.com/pages/Reflections-of-Ruin/162004060499009 (I wish I know how to link to that page properly) and chuck us a like, listen to the song even, you might enjoy it, we would really appreciate it man!

tl;dr: LIKE MY BAND PAGE SO WE CAN PLAY MORE SHOWS!

How's this look?

That's actually pretty cool. The text looks a tad blurry when enlarged, but it's definately awesome.

Can I be an ultra pain? I hate to make any sort of request from an artist, but is it Possible to make that same text (Or another if it doesn't work) appear as if it is carved in a stone wall?

If you could use this sort of colour scheme as well:
http://image.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/56953/56953,1157728096,6/stock-photo-carved-stone-1811599.jpg

I would forever love you.

If you're keen, send me a message with a price and we can sort out paypal and what not. I'll definantely be using those two designs as well though

Thanks a tonne again man, hope to hear from you soon!

Hey guys,

So we're about to start doing shows, and we need a logo that we can use for the promotion posters.

Name: Reflections of Ruin
Genre: Metalcore/Deathcore/Hardcore

The text doesn't need to be ultra fancy, just some cool designs and colours, preferably some light and dark browns with some black or something along those lines. Or hell, do what ever you want!

Would really appreciate the help here guys, special thanks and credits will be going to the contributing artist.

Edit: Paypal donations are definately in the mix for the right design!

Just throwin this up again.. Gettin' pretty desperate :P

Ok thanks for the input guys.

Yeah I have 2 guys that are in bands that have had extensive trouble with Randall amps blowing fuses, and the company not taking responsibility.

I read that Bugera had some really bad initial problems about 2 years ago, but most of them had been resolved and that they were quite good for the price. I'm at university so I only have about 1500 AUD to spend max.

The other guitarist in my band plays a Peavey 6505+ though, so I was thinking maybe I should get the Bugera 333XL instead of the 6262 for a slightly more varied sound, considering the 6262 is basically a 6505. Or do you think really similar amps will be fine?

Thanks again guys, you've been a huge help!

@Dandadog - Pink Floyd sigs ftw!!
Hey guys,

So I'm looking at buying a new amp, some might say my first real amp (been running a spider II), and I'm not very gear savvy so I thought someone might be able to help me.

I've narrowed it down to two amps that I really like the sound of, and it just so happens that one is a solid state with a tube preamp, and the other is all tube. The amps in question are:

Randall T2:
http://www.guitar.com.au/amplifiers/electric/randall/t2.html

Bugera 6262/Bugera 333XL - Unsure on which of the two I'll go with, depending on wether I decide to use Bugera or Randall. Sorry about the lack of a link to these amps, the Bugera website is down at the moment.

So basically I'm able to get the Randall T2 at the great price of $1200 AUD, virtually half price, and the Bugera heads are roughly $1000.

However, I've heard horror stories about Randall amps blowing fuses. I have a friend who had a T2 that constantly blew fuses, and when he got a Randall Warhead, it did the same time. Any thoughts? Is he just the unluckiest bastard in the universe? I've always been a bit sketchy on solid state, especially after having a Line 6.

I play in a metalcore band, running a Dean with Seymour Duncan pick ups, so most of the material is on the heavier side, although I spend a lot of my alone playing time noodling around on the clean channel.

Anyone got any advice?

Apologies for the wall of text!
That guy is definately getting signed as a rapper when he gets out of jail.

Pretty good man, it's not what I'm normally into, but I'll Be There, was pretty damn catchy, and the vocals were pretty cool.
What are you 16 years old? Grow up man, seriously.

I never spammed how good the songs were, I asked people to listen to it, and pass their own judgement, if you don't like it cool. No reason to come in a tell be a total prick for no good reason.
