Tired of same old boring guitar scale patterns? This video will help you come up with new interesting lines by combining narrow shapes with 3 notes per string.
The idea is to create a narrow scale shape that doesn't spread any wider than 5 frets apart. This will help you visualize your scale shape within the chord you are playing over. While doing this, make sure you still use 3 notes per string to facilitate faster lines. Some notes will be repeated, but that's OK. This will create some interesting musical lines.
These new types of positions facilitate fast playing and also help players quickly target the right notes and intervals.
