In this lesson, I'm going to show you how to use power chords in a non-conventional way.

Power chords are made of a root and a fifth. We are going to use that shape plus a bass note to get some interesting triads.

According to the modes theory there is a perfect fifth interval in six of the seven modes: Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian and Aeolian. This is the interval we are going to use in order to create these new chords.

As usual, we can use pentatonic scales to embellish these chords and create melodic passages.
